Devenney guarantees Donegal would beat Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Brendan Devenney speaking on Off The Ball last night guaranteed that Donegal would beat Dublin if they met, he's entitled to his opinion and good luck to him ; his points were defensive football will always beat attacking football maybe, but then his other points were Dublin 2011 you could see the look on the Dublin players they didn't want to be there and were lucky to win and then his other point was look what Donegal did to McManus on Sunday he never got a sniff. Brendan my man this Dublin team is so far ahead of the 2011 team it's not even funny and Brendan we've ten scoring forwards Monaghan have one. I honestly don't think people realise how good this Dublin team are I read Meath posters for the last 3 weeks saying how they were going to beat us come on please this is the greatest panel of players ever put together on one team.

Listen Donegal can beat Dublin, no doubt about it in my opinion.

But 2011 has nothing to do with anything anymore. Plus it was hardly that Donegal team's finest hour, seeing as they let a lead slip against a 14 man team that they had supposedly got rattled. Pretty poor.

If Donegal reproduced the 2011 performance they'll be beaten again. No doubt about that at all. In 2011 they were beaten by a 14 man Dublin team that is inferior to this Dublin team.

To win this year's All-Ireland Donegal need to reproduce or surpass their 2012 performances.

Devenney isnt known for predicting matches. He is good craic to listen to, especially live, he could come out with absolutely anything at all.

U cant make those sorts of predictions and base them on football from 3 years ago. that is a lifetime ago now, and both teams have changed so much. I also think that Armagh will beat Meath, and will have a huge say in whether this fixture will come to pass. We are looking at a 50/50 game against them, and McGeeney will have them waiting in the long grass for us in 2 weeks time.

Have to disagree with your last point I'm afraid. Compare your forwards to those of Tyrone circa 2005 and Kerry 2004-07 or even the 70s and 80s!

greatest panel of players on what basis?..some of those kerry teams spring to mind...let dublin win a few more all irelands first before making claims like that

This isn't even worth debating, Until the sides actually are due to come up against each other.

Kerry team of the 70's and 80's never had to worry about blanket defences, if every team went man to man against us like they did against Kerry then no one would get near us. Tyrone was a great team but had nowhere near the forward talent we have.

Clondalkindub, you're completely correct. Monaghan are not much of a team compared to Dublin. 2 scoring forwards & the rest just go around hitting lads. Dublin are far ahead of Monaghan or Donegal. Donegal's are big lads but their athleticism & skill way behind the dubs.

He is entitled to his view. It will be fascinating game if it takes place which it quite probably will.

this is an example of why dublin supporters get a bad name and people want them to lose

Don't understand why is this even being discussed when there's so much football yet to be played.

Mayo/Kerry will see to that.

Peter Canavan no question outstanding forward only Gooch is better but after him we've way better forwards , Stephen O Neill bar 05 has been either injured or retired the last ten years every so often he comes up with great scores but he's living off 05, Owen mulligan great forward but give me either Brogan any day of the week , you honestly believe Dooher is a better player than Connolly or Flynn ???? No chance , then we have Mannion, Kev Mac ,Costello, Rock,O Gara,Andrews,Kilkenny etc I haven't mentioned our backs , never before has there been a better panel of players than this Dublin side. The only reason we mightn't win San this year is cause some teams play with 14 men behind the ball, if it was man to man we'd walk it this year, just like the great Kerry teams.
