What's the game everyone wants to see in 2014?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

As the title asks, what is the big game that people want to see happen in both codes in the Championships this summer based on who's left?

In the hurling there a couple of intriguing matchups - but is a Cork v Kilkenny final the big one?

In the football, is it a case of everyone wanting to see Mayo have another crack off of the Dubs?

I'd like to see Dublin get another go against Kilkenny in the Hurling, the Leinster final wasn't as tight as it could have been but I believe that that Dublin side is better than what they showed that day. In the football, much and all as I'd like to see Mayo finally win Sam, the game I'm hoping to see is a Donegal v Dublin semi final, reckon there's a lot of unfinished business between them since the SF in 2011.

Dubs/Kerry football final and Wexford/Cats hurling semi final. Be two of the games of all time.

Unfinished business is right. All the Donegal lads I know really want a crack at Dublin.

Dublin - Kerry , the two top teams at the moment . Both shaping up very nicely this year, would be a cracker

Dublin v Kerry in another All Ireland final would be my pick.

Plenty of football to play in the meantime though.

No unfinished business from the SF in 2011.

This is radically different Dublin team to the one that played that day.

It'll be an interesting game alright though if it is to happen. Jimmy was tactically outfoxed in the closing stages and it must hurt as he knows that they would've probably beaten Kerry in the final too.

Wexford v Kilkenny All Ireland final would be brilliant. In the football probably Dubs v Donegal

Mayo in the final and winning it against whoever, that's all I care about.

Donegal v Dublin has only happened once in past 10 years, and that 2011 game sticks in the memory. Donegal lead 0-03 to 0-02 at HT, and Dublin won the game 0-08 to 0-06.

Could you Imagine Dublin only scoring 0-08 in a full game now? Well neither could anybody back then!!!

Donegal vs Dublin is the one but maybe ourselves and Armagh might have something to say about that yet.

I believe the two All-Ireland semi-finals which I think will be Dublin v Donegal and Kerry v Mayo will be very hard games to call and may produce two cracking games.

You would play the dubs in the semi if you managed to get there

There is no unfinished business from that year, you are 100% right. All was settled on the day, and I dont think that there was any complaints about the winners from anyone tbh. I also think that if we won in 2011, we would not have had the success the following year. Finally, JMG and his team will not be considering 2011 in the preparations for the next game, never mind beyond it. It is a mugs game, what has happened 3 years ago has no bearing on a game now, tactically or in terms of a teams form or personnel. Jim made several references to this point after the monaghan match, that the bad record against them, and last years final had no bearing on the preparation of the game. I would totally agree with this. It is all on the day now.

The game I would love to see this year would be Kerry v Mayo as I think it would be a great yardstick to where both teams are at, and whether Mayo can push on or not this year. We will see.

Ultimately Donegal v the field in the final would be my pick.
