Has there ever been a year where the 4 defending provincial champions have retained their titles? Kerry and Mayo have already retained theirs. If Dublin Region and Monaghan win tomorrow, all 4 provincial champions will have retained their respective titles.

What about the Kerry Region region that reached consecutive All Ireland finals from 02-09 hammering the minnows of Waterford,Clare,Limerick&Tipp in Munster?.Your even miles ahead of your neighbours Cork hammering them by 12 points and they have never beaten ye in Croke Park where it matters.

Ha ha, ye both could be looking at Connaught Region and Ulster Region joining the hurling championship! What about the Kerry hurlers and the hurlers of Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, Longford & Louth? Those hurlers should have an opportunity as well.

Yes, it was last done in 1942 when Cavan, Kerry, Dublin and Galway all retained their respective provincial championships.

In Ulster alone after Derry won Ulster 1975/76 it was 20 years before another county Tyrone 1995/96 retained the title.

It's been surprisingly infrequent for all four to have retained their titles. It lays a lie to the staleness of the championship over the years. It also happened in 1937 when Cavan, Laois, Kerry and Mayo all won again.
