Cork and Limerick contested today's Munster final. Wexford knocked out the All-Ireland champions. Is division 1B hurling all that bad? legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7842 - 13/07/2014 18:11:35 1618424 Link 0 |

No, and last year the Leinster and Munster champions were 1B teams along with Clare? Not sure about Clare.. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 13/07/2014 18:21:24 1618433 Link 0 |
The top few teams in it are similar to 1a level. The bottom few teams in it are at a much lower standard. enver (Limerick) - Posts: 128 - 13/07/2014 18:25:27 1618441 Link 0 |
Not at all, there are 3-4 teams in 1B who can beat anyone in 1A. For a team trying to develop 1B is probably even better for them as they have a bit more breathing space to try things without risking having a big set-back, and it allows new players to grow gradually rather than getting exposed in the cut-throat environment that is 1A. There is no difference. Wexford just got on with what they had to do instead of whinging. Nothing between 7/8 teams which is great. Anyone of Cats, Cork, Tipp, Dubs, Limerick, Waterford can win it. Depends on the day. This year will surpass last year. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 13/07/2014 18:54:02 1618468 Link 0 |

bennybunny thanks for your good wishes. Well done to yourselves. I said in a drunken stouper on here one night about 7-8 years ago about puncturing footballs, to be honest I think both can work - look at Aidan Walsh! It's the hard training which kills a dual player. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 14/07/2014 15:56:58 1619095 Link 0 |
It annoys me the way Loughnane & some of the other Sunday Game panelists constantly refer to Div 1B as division 2. The 7th ranked team in the country's league is thus labelled a division 2 team??? The GAA linked up the quarterfinals with teams from 1A & 1B to ensure this doesn't happen. Alas,... keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 14/07/2014 16:07:21 1619105 Link 0 |
Pinkie. Walsh was shocking, admittedly as well as many others in the football match last week. I have no doubt that the dual player issue cost us dearly in the first half of the last decade and wexford recognised this as far back as the early fifties when they had two fine teams loaded with dual stars but they all opted for hurling before they achieved their full potential. I feel the dual player is definitely a think of the past with the current levels of committment required Oldtourman (Limerick) - Posts: 4321 - 14/07/2014 16:11:31 1619110 Link 0 |
Oldtourman I do admit I didnt watch the football last weekend!! But I thought Aidan Walsh was excellent yesterday. I think the dual situation will always be pointed at when in reality it's more than likely that Walsh just had a bad day! Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 14/07/2014 16:29:47 1619129 Link 0 |
The Cork footballers were awful. Nothing to do with dual players etc. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 14/07/2014 18:28:49 1619237 Link 0 |
