Great entertainment from a neutrals point of view. Delighted for Wexford despite their own best efforts to throw it away. The Clare players for the most part went out like men Maroonatic (Galway) - Posts: 1060 - 12/07/2014 19:23:25 1617893 Link 0 |
Yeah two great games although the appalling display from the referee tonight is very worrying. I'm no conspiracy theorist but maybe the GAA would like to help get some new teams into the latter stages of the championship for the good of the game. I'm not sure, I thought the ref was okay. Not perfect but no referee ever is. It's a tough job. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 12/07/2014 19:45:38 1617932 Link 0 |

Former poster disallowing a perfectly valid goal doesnt do much for your conspiracy theory. disillusiondfan (Limerick) - Posts: 4279 - 12/07/2014 20:40:48 1617987 Link 0 |
Fair play to Wexford - great to see them being competitive again. Mighty display Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1410 - 12/07/2014 20:48:42 1617998 Link 0 |

I dont buy the theories disillusiondfan but Cunningham and Conlon were pulled down at the end when a point down and both times free's went against them Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1410 - 12/07/2014 20:55:39 1618004 Link 0 |
Will agree that the ref made some funny decisions tonight but I think its a bit rich to blame him for clares loss. They were completely outplayed throughout ordinary time and but for the legit wexford goal being disallowed and some woeful shooting by wexford clare could have taken a good trimming tonight. blacknamber (Kerry) - Posts: 267 - 12/07/2014 21:11:53 1618017 Link 0 |
Clare deserve great credit for the battling effort they have shown over both days. Both games they performed way below their best but never threw the towel in and almost done it. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 12/07/2014 21:24:02 1618029 Link 0 |

Who would have thought Clare footballers would still be in championship after hurlers had exited?? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 13/07/2014 09:08:11 1618079 Link 0 |
One thing that frustrates me and has for a long while is that the punishment of being a man down does not fit the crime. The handicap of losing a player is absolutely huge and in most games your fate is decided when you lose a man (Look at Pat Horgan, henry Shelfin and Ryan O'Dwyer last year when their teams went a man down). For Clare to hang on with only 13 men for 25 minutes was incredible. Former_Poster (Meath) - Posts: 394 - 13/07/2014 09:40:25 1618087 Link 0 |
People are not giving Wexford the proper credit for this. Given where both teams are coming from this is equivalent of Armagh beating Dubs in football. So hats off to the yella bellies. They are back! hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 13/07/2014 10:04:26 1618101 Link 0 |
Johnny Ryan was not the difference between the 2 teams last night. Wexford were denied a perfectly legitimate goal for what seems a square ball decision. That was a poor decision and fair play to Wexford they got on with the game and did not let that decision affect them. carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1812 - 13/07/2014 13:51:07 1618209 Link 0 |
Clare got everything in Ennis last week. There would have been no replay if not for the ref. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2600 - 13/07/2014 14:26:51 1618223 Link 0 |
