It hurts me to say that this is the least talented Kerry team since 1992, there could be a major shock today, as I have a feeling Clare could knock us out of Munster. If Kerry do win I feel to will be less that 2 points. The big problem in Kerry, is club football, teams like Laune Rangers, Ghaeltacht, and div teams like South Kerry Feale Rangers and Shannon Rangers have very little talent. IMO only Dublin seem to have youngsters coming through. kerryrowz (Kerry) - Posts: 833 - 22/06/2014 10:32:04 1607002 Link 0 |
Dublin started a championship side last Sunday with nobody under the age of 24. In fact the only player that age was James McCarthy. The rest are 25 or older. So to say they are the only side with players coming through is not exactly correct. Former_Poster (Meath) - Posts: 394 - 22/06/2014 11:06:07 1607012 Link 0 |
Get beaten by Clare? MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13692 - 22/06/2014 11:33:56 1607025 Link 0 |
Not sure you're right there Former-poster, the Dubs are up there with Galway as the most consistent, and Tyrone have continued to produce teams, particularly at minor level. Cork are also there abouts every year at u21, while my own county won minor last year and were unlucky not to make the final the year before. I'm expecting a good Kerry minor team to go a long way this year. Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 22/06/2014 11:36:08 1607027 Link 0 |
Dublin look well ahead at the moment but then Mayo, Monagahan, Donegal, Cork, Tyrone, Kerry all seem work in progress. Could be many twists and turns but Kerry still are a last eight side and who knows after that. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 22/06/2014 11:40:43 1607028 Link 0 |
Jaysus but the Kerry lads never give up. The great Micko was full of blarney talking up the opposition before going out and bating the s***e out of them. Kerry are never bad, present team appear shorn of stars but a lot of todays debutants could be household names in 2 or 3 years. Clare could give them a battle but Kerry to win and after Cork's get out of jail against Tipp last night, the Munster Final is wide open. Overall its hard to look past Dublin, they really look the business but if there is one team who won't roll over against them at Croker then that team is Kerry. corkcelt (Cork) - Posts: 4388 - 22/06/2014 12:14:51 1607045 Link 0 |

Don't understand why this game is not on tv today instead of yet another Ulster game. Clare are going well with their division 4 promotion and have 2 tough games against Waterford behind them, so I don't expect it to be easy for Kerry at all. With Kerry coming into the game with a new side as well, this seemed the obvious game to show rather than the Clones tie. Hope Kerry perform well, the championship is always better when there is a strong challenge from the Kingdom. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 22/06/2014 12:45:06 1607062 Link 0 |
It's a weak Kerry side but you'll beat Clare. It's difficult to see an AI coming to the kingdom with Gooch, Galvin and Tomas out. CaisleanCnucha (Dublin) - Posts: 1379 - 22/06/2014 12:54:23 1607065 Link 0 |
Kerry won't be down for too long. Highly rated minor team this year with Jack O'Connor over them and PS Corca Dhuibhne were very impressive winning the Hogan Cup. beir_bua (Kildare) - Posts: 746 - 22/06/2014 13:46:49 1607095 Link 0 |

No thread on this match but once again the underdogs are putting up an excellent performance, no matter what happens, Clare deserve credit! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8571 - 22/06/2014 16:09:53 1607159 Link 0 |
Same old story I'm afraid. Clare & Tipp running Cork & Kerry close is useless, Limerick did that every year for over 10 years without making the breakthrough. If they don't win, no progress is made and the hurling sections within the counties involved will do their best to ensure no progress is made... county man (Limerick) - Posts: 1102 - 22/06/2014 17:56:21 1607229 Link 0 |
The performances of Tipp and Clare would suggest coming into the game with a game under their belts is an advantage for them. The 6 counties should give consideration to seeding the finalists. When one or two of the four beat one of the seeded two then they can earn a seeded place. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7757 - 22/06/2014 18:03:08 1607234 Link 0 |
Don't agree Legend, this was a once off. Last year people were saying the Munster football championship was over after the hammerings in the first round but that was the first time in a long time that happened. Before that Limerick, Tipp and even Waterford regularly put it up to Kerry & Cork in the first round. county man (Limerick) - Posts: 1102 - 22/06/2014 18:14:12 1607241 Link 0 |
I am inclined to agree with you Legend, over the past few years Clare have been averaging 12 point defeats against the big 2, and Tipperary fare even worse. Yesterdays result alongside todays suggests that the extra game has done them both a lot of good in preparation this year. However I suppose the real question is did Tipp play better against Cork than they did against Limerick in the 1st round, and did Clare play better today than against Waterford in their 1st game. Maybe someone who was at these games could confirm it all. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 22/06/2014 19:41:22 1607297 Link 0 |
This question should be asked at the END of the year... Kerry have some injuries to key players too.. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 22/06/2014 20:09:41 1607307 Link 0 |
