Hypothetically.......
Talking football now for a start....
One IC league tournament with a Cup running parrallel
Start in late April, finish in Spetember. Games every weekend for everyone.
The rest of the year for Club championships etc
Two divisions, relegation to Div 2 and Promotion to Div 1 active
Split the cup into 2 regions (Connacht/Munster & Leinster/Ulster) with a play off between both winners
Play Club Championships from October to March?
Is it feasible, could it work?

I think you'd need a playoff system at the end of it.
People love finals!

Would an all Ireland structure work in English soccer No they are different sports and nobody would have any interest in just copying soccer I wish people would stop looking at England or soccer thinking we have to follow them at everything The Gaa works fine it wouldn't be the biggest sport in the country if it didn't

You are not too far there Liam. The structure of the AFL in OZ I think would go down well. Could split into 2 groups of 16/17 and top 4 from each group go into the 1/4 finals
So even the worst teams will get 15/16 games a year. With so many games it would take away from all the over training and allow players to actually play football and get a good consistent run at it.

Mes Amis, you get a league winner, you get a Cup winner, winners of both play off against each other for the All Ireland Final
Play the cup final after the league finishes so that way if the same team wins both, they assume the all ireland champions mantle automatically
So, 3 trophies
League Winner Cup Winners All Ireland Winners
Also Relegation to Div 2, Promotion to Div 1
All teams enter into Cup

i would 100% do away with the U21 competitions yes, but I would do that regardless, and considering the amt of personal sacrifice lads put in as it is, do you not think the lesser teams would not prefer MORE games especially against teams of their level? As opposed to being scrificial lambs to the super powers as we often get nowadays
Hill, its hardly an "english soccer" template! Its pretty much universal and encompasses most sports FFS lad!
Your hatred of all things English clouds your very valid opinions at times my friend

Not bad but how much of an off season would you have where virt no hurling/football would be played? Why split cup up? Any reason behind that 29/05/2014 10:43:32 Damothedub Games every-weekend for everyone ?When do players get a rest ,? We need to do away with the league and incorparate it into the championship. Champions League group stages are not the answer either. I believe the NFL in America has the perfect answer to give us a proper structure that keeps teams playing 10 games a season at least, keeps the local rivalry, every team has silverware at the end of it but also keeps the knockout stages of the championship from a last 12 situation. My proposal is here [url=]http://www.johnmulhollandbookmaker.blogspot.ie/2013/06/reform-all-ireland-series.html
This competition would start in May and run to early September.
Full GAA Season could run like this:
Febuaray-Sigerson Cup Feb, March, April- Local Club championships- Try to have finals around Easter weekend May-September-All Ireland championship and minor championship starts after leaving cert September-October- All Ireland Club Championship with final last weekend in October November-Railway cup or Game versus Australia December and January=off season-No intercounty training allowed

So you play the county final in April then wait 5 months for the provincial?
If the GAA needs restructuring it is to decrease the amount of Inter County games not increase them

some interesting proposals but I would discount playing club championships at the worst time of the year(s) weatherwise October to March.

hill16no1man, I agree we shouldn't copy soccer, but you cant really be suggesting that the current system works(or even makes sense). For example ,if Tyrone beat Monaghan then they will have beaten Down, and Monaghan to reach the semi finals of Ulster, while Galway only had to beat London to reach the semi-finals in Connacht.

Yes Shea I would run club competition like that. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but intercounty is the revenue driver so will always be first. My proposal means the local championship will get precedence before the intercounty even starts. Counties and managers could use proper club games to test the quality of their squad and spot potential new players coming through.
Once the Intercounty season begins we have teh club teams playing in their own league miuns the inter county panels with a universal appraoch to the league taken where league position doesnt equate to championship position so teams who lose more to the intercounty panel are not unfairly disadvantaged in their championship.
As for then waiting until September/October to start up the All Ireland CLub championship.. Why not? It's set in stone and it can get the media attention it deserves unlike now when its squeezed into November/January and Febuary up against the intercounty game. It would mean sacrifising the ST Patricks Day games but I think it would be better to run it this way and have the whole season in the same calandar year rather than flip around my proposal and have the county club games starting in September/October/November and have the All Ireland club championship in Febuarary and March but others might disagree
technically if we pulled the Intercounty All ireland finals to August instead of September we'd get more of a run at the club championship in late August/September

The day a system like that comes in is the day the GAA becomes a professional organisation because stuff like that takes serious commitment even more than what they give now

The Sigerson Cup needs to be scaled back or abolished altogether. The only reason players treat it so well is because the colleges are looking after them so well.
Years ago a college competition was a good idea because players were often away from home for long periods. That's no longer the case.

Yea I think that would require a professional set up. 16 games at a minimum with one every week is too much for an amateur. Unless they completely give up club football players could play 40 games a year if they had a decent club championship run. God forbid if they won the county and had to play for a club all-ireland!
