How big a price to be considered a dark horse. Donegal were 25/1 last week but now they must be considered a dark horse. They have the game if they play at full tilt to beat Dublin

Cavan for me are the dark horses this year. Again another side who could disrupt and annoy Dublin, I think they'll make an Ulster final this year and will surprise a few

I think Roscommon will go well in the qualifiers -don't think they are at Mayo's level just yet- as well as Monaghan whom I don't see retaining their Ulster title with Monaghan possible All-Ireland quarter finalists.

I meant to add that I would reserve judgement on Galway for the moment.

Dublin may get beaten this summer but it won't be by donegal or Cavan.

Not really so long as they avoid each other the quarter finalists should be.

Dublin,Mayo,Kerry,Cork,Tyrone,Donegal,Monaghan,Derry. looking to break into that top eight would be Galway,Meath,Kildare,Cavan. Others like Laois,Down.Louth,Roscommon might win the odd back door game but they won't reach the quarter finals IMO

@Floops

Donegal are one side that could topple the Dubs however they will have to reach the form of 2011/12 to do so.

i know a second fav cant be described as a dark dark horse but i think mayo will do it this year.the messing round in the league etc..i feel its all a smoke screen..remember they were btn a point last year after the concession of two "soft"( hewouldnt have got near the ball v a northern team or kerry) goals.aidan o shea having an off day, cillian o injured, andy moran not fit and the deployment or lack of same of keith higgins..if they get it tactically right and stay injury free thy will go v close..

I would not go by the betting as over the years teams who impress in the first round usually come in in the betting. In Donegal 's case this week 14/1 from 25/1. If you think back two years ago Galway beat Roscommon (correct me if wrong) and of course P Spillane and Sunday game crowd tipped them as contenders for Sam Next game they were blew out of the water. So you won't really know till August( last8) Too dodgy to pick an outsider at this stage of the championship.
But what I will say if Donegal improve, defenders still overlap and attack and hold out in defence , don't loose the discipline they could beat anybody. They will defeninatly frustrate teams and that includes Dublin if they meet.

Donegal were champs 2 years ago so they can't be dark horses.Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Tyrone, Monaghan, Donegal are all teams I expect to do well.
The only dark horses I can see making an impression are Meath or Galway.

You put every thing you have on Dublin if they meet Donegal in August. If we are still in the championship at that stage I'd be confident of a good show. We have the best manager in the game to come up with tactics to suit our team. Last Sunday Donegal never panicked even when Derry came back at them and reduced the lead to two points. See how many passes (18) I think before we got the last score. Scenes of 2012 and looks like we will have a proper defensive system ready if we meet Dublin It won't be pretty viewing and a lot of people won't like it but if we meet Dublin it will have to be a good blanket system , can't do what Derry done in the Div I Final. It still does not say we would beat Dublin if we meet but make it real hard for them to win. A few of the young Dublin players never came up against a system we had in 2011 and I don't know how they would react, would not like it one bit. Of course it would be up to our SUPREME leader (JMcG)
If memory serves me right was MdMcAuly not taken off in 2011 and I know J McG is a lot cutter now We might never meet but to me Donegal would have to make it a tactical game. Think that's how Kerry over the last 12years or so found it hard to play Ulster teams. They had no problem dissing out good beatings to Cork,DublinMayo in that period.
We have not seen Dublin play yet so who is to say that they won't struggle this year as often you see a team play flat and can take a while to discover the previous years form. I was not sure about Donegal on Sunday , in fact I would not have been surprised if Derry had beat us But what i saw , especially the defence I was quite happy with. Hope we reach Croke park as Ulster champions and I would think that JMcG would have his homework done on Dublin and that we would really give them a game. I do think it would be tactical.

My quarter finalists:::
Dublin Cork Donegal Mayo. Provincials champions IMO
Tyrone Derry Meath Monaghan
Kerry have injuries , retirements and doubts about players so they are one of the big teams that could get beat in the qualifiers. That's if they don't win Munster, but I can't see them beating Cork. If the teams mentioned above all come through Dublin would look the surest bet to go to the semi's. Now Cork , Donegal or Mayo could find it hard against ant of Tyrone, Derry or Monaghan. Whatever happens I don't fancy Kerry this year for a semi final spot.
