It's a pity because Joe's clearly a very smart man.

He has the ability to be a quality pundit, to analyse how a team sets up tactically and to break down segments of play into great detail, which would make for very interesting viewing.

Instead of doing any of that though he just goes for the controversial (Dunphy or Spillane-esque) approach and changes his tune with the wind.

In keeping with RTE's style of "analysis" it's repetitive, predictable and pretty much irrelevant to whatever has happened in the match.
