Since Premium Sports/UStream no longer offer the home package for watching the Championship 2014, where do we turn for this option? Premium Sports steered us to GAA.ie but I see nothing there regards the 'residential viewing' for GAA supporters to enjoy the matches. Any help would be appreciated, thank you. lostintime (USA) - Posts: 533 - 10/05/2014 13:06:18 1586072 Link 0 |
It looks like it may be broadcast on MHZ network. The matches will be delayed but free. mikeyjoe (USA) - Posts: 415 - 10/05/2014 13:44:11 1586080 Link 0 |

Hey lostintime. I'm sorry to get your hopes up. This is getting more confusing by the minute. MHZ Netowrk is a public station broadcasting around the country. In NY it is WFME. However, the only information I on their website is that in DC they are just rebroadcast the 2013 season!!! mikeyjoe (USA) - Posts: 415 - 10/05/2014 16:50:10 1586134 Link 0 |
Was the Sky deal not put in place for your likes? The more i see about this the more i think it was all about the money. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 10/05/2014 18:22:40 1586167 Link 0 |
I believe Sky is for UK gotmilk. Last week I read somewhere that premium sports had 3 more years to broadcast matches Stateside. Now we've been dropped like the proverbial red-headed step-child. mikeyjoe (USA) - Posts: 415 - 10/05/2014 19:22:34 1586190 Link 0 |
Yes I remember that station in NY (it may have been nation wide?) showing the 2013 matches in the Fall & Winter of 2013/2014. The Premium package $199 for the entire Championship was a great deal. I am not able to every match live on Sundays or Saturdays, so their caveat of making the matches available on demand to watch when you were able was very handy. Now it looks like this SKY extravaganza has botched things up. I am hoping the GAA straighten this out before the opening matches on May 18th. If not, then they have reversed the plan to spread our games to a wider audience worldwide. lostintime (USA) - Posts: 533 - 10/05/2014 19:27:23 1586192 Link 0 |
You are on target there Mikey Joe, Premium Sports will keep their home viewing available in Canada and the Carribean. Do you want to split a beach villa in Jamaica for the next five months? :) Oddly enough I would say there is more demand stateside but the pub owners must have put pressure on Premium Sports because they no doubt lost customers due to the home viewing option that many of us availed of. lostintime (USA) - Posts: 533 - 10/05/2014 19:31:06 1586193 Link 0 |
I guess we'll have to move to Jamaica and switch from stout to rum and coke. :) mikeyjoe (USA) - Posts: 415 - 11/05/2014 11:55:16 1586272 Link 0 |
A complete and utter farce, the GAA and RTE cannot get their act together with regards to the "Streaming Service" they were supposed to provide for us here in the US. The championship has already started and no word from anywhere as to what this PHANTOM service will be. It was supposed to be announced at the end of April. A complete slap in the face to the hard work being done by all over here who work to grow the games in the country with the largest number of teams and players outside of Ireland. Total joke. So the GAA lied stating that the SKY deal was for the diaspora abroad. Complete Bull S**t! portavogielad (Down) - Posts: 446 - 11/05/2014 19:57:04 1586415 Link 0 |

Marlon the matches have been accessible to view on the UK for years now on Premier sports. And premier sports still has 75% of the gaa rights in the UK. But the gaa haven't announced that because it shows up the sky deal for what it is : money. The sky deal just ensures people in the UK, as like Ireland, have to pay an extra subscription to what they have paid in previous years in they want to watch certain championship games mike03 (Limerick) - Posts: 2000 - 11/05/2014 20:55:07 1586439 Link 0 |

I have been saying all this since the deal was announced and no one paid any heed. How on earth they sold it to the people as a good deal for the diaspora I will never know. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5518 - 12/05/2014 09:31:34 1586488 Link 0 |
They sold it that way in Ireland and must have somehow though those in the UK wouldn't hear what they were saying. I have seen numerous quotes from GAA executives saying the sky deal was to make the games available in the UK. Never once have I seen Premier sports mentioned in the same period. This is despite them having 75% of the rights for the GAA in the UK and having 100% of the rights for the last few years. They also show leagues games every weekend ands some club games. That hasn't been mentioned by GAA executives. I am presuming Premier sports weren't mentioned because having them on board completely contradicts the GAA's statement about sky being the only option. mike03 (Limerick) - Posts: 2000 - 12/05/2014 09:52:30 1586494 Link 0 |

Zinny if you think sky are going to do a big promotional push of GAA you are mistaken. All matches will be put on sky sports 3 or 4 and will get a few minutes towards the end of the hour on sky sports news. As of now the GAA coverage on the sky sports website is found under other sports. This is despite netball and speedway having their own section!! It shows how high up on thie rlist of priorities the GAA coverage is. mike03 (Limerick) - Posts: 2000 - 12/05/2014 13:45:39 1586608 Link 0 |
