Cavan to win it and Roscommon to go up as well. Offaly and Fermanagh to get relegated. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 18/01/2014 15:14:34 1533366 Link 0 |

Cavan and wexford/roscommon. Longford look weak with withdrawals though kavanagh back. Off back of a disastrous league last year can't see them in mix. sceptical (Cavan) - Posts: 544 - 18/01/2014 20:53:44 1533528 Link 0 |
Cavan are making good progress and I think we'll have enough to lift the trophy. I'd like to see the Rossies joining us and I think they will, two counties who have invested wisely in youth in recent times. We have developed an extensive squad with strength in depth and we're going into this league on the back of a good McKenna cup run which hopefully will get better tomorrow. Cavan have turned things around and Underage wins, last years championship run and even early McKenna Cup performances show a county who may at last punch their weight. A young squad who should get better with more games under the belt promotion this year is a must. Offaly and Limerick may go down. I expect Cavan to win it with Limerick and Longford to go down mike03 (Limerick) - Posts: 2000 - 19/01/2014 09:33:15 1533581 Link 0 |
I think Cavan and Roscommon are by far the best teams in this division,if these teams were in Dv2,I would expect both to stay up,in fact Cavan could challenge for promotion in dv2.. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 19/01/2014 09:46:09 1533585 Link 0 |
Championship form and league form are not always the same so even though they were fairly decent last summer I wouldent put the savings on Cavan winning this division.I do expect 2 of Cavan,Wexford and the sheep stealers to get promoted though. juniorbsub (Wexford) - Posts: 646 - 19/01/2014 10:58:28 1533617 Link 0 |
If Cavan don't get promoted this year, we never will. 5 wins should be enough and I expect us to beat Fermanagh and Sligo at home aswell as win away to Longford, Offaly and Limerick. We could then afford to slip up against Roscommon and Wexford, the 2 trickiest opponents in my opinion... GallantJohnJoe (Cavan) - Posts: 329 - 20/01/2014 11:05:04 1534116 Link 0 |
Wouldnt write off Longford. Players coming back from injury and a few quality u21s from last year should boost the team. They are home in the first game against Roscommon also home against Cavan in the second game. Confident Cavan can go up, but they have to earn it like any other team. Wexford were without Ciaran Lyng for the entire league last year in div2, a big loss. Roscommin will be strong lots of good talent, were without them bridids players for most of the league last year which didn't help their promotion prospects. Lee Chin concentrating on Hurling this year and Remond Barry retiring are big losses for Wexford. Ye still have lots of good players, Brosnan, Lyng Adrian Flynn, Daithi Waters FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2763 - 20/01/2014 15:26:21 1534301 Link 0 |

Can't disagree much with most of the sentiments in the thread so far, I'd be expecting Cavan and one of Ros/Wexico to go up. Having said all that, anything can happen and I don't know if it will be as plain sailing for Cavan as people seem to be suggesting. With that said, I'd like to see them go up, reckon they'd survive in D2 no bother and D2 football is whats required for teams like Cavan, Wexford and Roscommon to be able to kick on when it comes to championship. Can see it being a long league campaign for Offaly but I reckon Limerick have an outside chance of survival if they can beat Fermanagh at home and turn over Offaly in Tullamore. decky (Roscommon) - Posts: 384 - 20/01/2014 16:37:14 1534337 Link 0 |
Very much up in the air for us, on our day we are a match for almost anybody. A load of the old heads such as John Galvin, Stephen Kelly, Stephen Lavin et al may decide to pack it in, but I bob_dolphin (Limerick) - Posts: 694 - 20/01/2014 16:53:39 1534348 Link 0 |

A load of the old heads such as John Galvin, Stephen Kelly, Stephen Lavin et al may decide to pack it in, but I reckon they'll give it one last hurrah under our new manager who has opted to draft in a load of youthful and athletic lads. Could be very experimental, which will either work incredibly or backfire horrifically. bob_dolphin (Limerick) - Posts: 694 - 20/01/2014 16:55:52 1534351 Link 0 |

bob_dolphin, Stephen Kelly is not retiring: he was training with the squad yesterday. I reckon Limerick will surprise a number of posters here, and survive in Div 3. football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 20/01/2014 17:48:14 1534377 Link 0 |
I think Cavan and Roscommon will battle it out for promotion, with Wexford as the third contender. Offaly open their campaign away to Wexford, a team that have the Indian sign on us over the past few years. Then Cavan at home, I think if Offaly survive in Division 3 it will be an achievement, we also have Limerick and Longford at home. Offaly have to aim for 6 points for survival. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1735 - 20/01/2014 18:21:00 1534396 Link 0 |
