Difficult to judge any team prior to the league based on relative provincial cups. I'm a bit biased in that I hope Tyrone can go one step further this year and win league title, but we have a few tough away games. In saying that-last year we did very well in away games but struggled with Cork and Kerry at home in the latter stages of competition. We always seem to blaze out of traps at start of season and have not much left come August so glad Mickey is resting some of more veteran experienced players. Hopefully we can get a good start-as we saw last year it was a fine line between promotion and relegation! I see Dublin and possibly Mayo as contenders for title, and think Westmeath and ?Kildare could be in relegation trouble, but again everything hinges on earlier season results. Its difficult to judge Cork based on last years performances and changes to panel. Gael01 (Tyrone) - Posts: 74 - 17/01/2014 09:55:20 1532866 Link 0 |

Hard to see Dublin winning it again as they will be trying more new players, Mayo or Tyrone for me! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8591 - 17/01/2014 11:30:22 1532909 Link 0 |

I will tell the truth unlike some on here. Its Dublin's league to lose with there massive panel. Kerry my own county will be happy to stay in division 1. Kerry need there best players in order to compete. Too many players missing due to various reasons. kerry74 (Kerry) - Posts: 1354 - 17/01/2014 12:54:50 1532967 Link 0 |
I see the top four as Dublin, Cork, Mayo and and Tyrone with Tyrone winning the final. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 17/01/2014 13:10:02 1532980 Link 0 |
Tyrone. Dublin will be more experimental than last year I think with Brogan and others not appearing until later on. Dubs could still make semi finals of course which would put them in with a shout as stronger team emerges. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 17/01/2014 13:35:50 1532999 Link 0 |
Dublin and Mayo to contest final, with Dublin as favourites but Mayo haven't even won league since 2001 so may be hungrier so I expect a good league from Mayo and a big (maybe final) push from James Horan. Tyrone will also be in semi finals. The other semi final spot to be between Cork, Kerry and Kildare and I'd expect Kildare to get it. These three could just as well be involved in a relegation dogfight with Derry and Westmeath (at least one of whom will go straight back down to Div 2). The league this year is all about giving our new young lads the opportunity to impress and to challenge the current "regulars" come the championship jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 17/01/2014 13:53:54 1533014 Link 0 |

Tyrone will be happy to cement their position at the top table so I would rule them out (Keep the bullets for the Championship) Mayo is my tip fortyfive (Tyrone) - Posts: 5929 - 17/01/2014 14:18:37 1533041 Link 0 |

Division 1 is a strange division in some ways. Every county is probably just happy enough to retain their status and no one is too pushed about actually going and winning it. Nice if it happens but not something the likes of Harte, Gavin, Fitzmaurice etc will be losing any sleep over. beir_bua (Kildare) - Posts: 746 - 17/01/2014 15:30:51 1533081 Link 0 |
Home games are important in the league I think (though on last year's evidence, we lost 66% of our home games and won 50% of away games). In our first four games, we have three of them at home to Westmeath, Kildare and Derry (we play Dublin in between away). If we can win those three, we should be safe from relegation. We also need to target beating Tyrone at home in our other league game and then trying to get one win from three away (Dubs, Mayo and Kerry) so that we can set our sights a little higher. I think we can get 8 points? Will that be enough for a top 4? bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 17/01/2014 15:40:08 1533085 Link 0 |

With the silly semi finals for 8 teams nonsense still going on its near impossible to pick the winner. Top 4 royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 17/01/2014 15:48:16 1533090 Link 0 |
Tyrone gave us our hardest games last year in the league and Mickey I think will give it a good shot, they have a few tough away games but I see them doing well, Kerry will want to do well also and even though some older players are missing , behind all the yerra from their posters they will want to do well in league. Fitzmaurices honeymoon period is over. Id expect both teams to do well. AthCliath (Dublin) - Posts: 4347 - 17/01/2014 15:49:38 1533091 Link 0 |
Yerra if we stay up we'll be happy out sure and we'll leave the Div 1 Title to Dublin! Cute_Kerry_Hoor (Kerry) - Posts: 2518 - 17/01/2014 16:06:24 1533099 Link 0 |
