What do we love about going to championship games?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I love the sight of the line of cars that jam the road into places like thurles, each car with the flags in the back window, everyone beeping in anticipation for the big game.

The knot of anxiety in the stomach
The crowds
A bit of heat in the air
The smell of burgers
Being in short sleeves

Championship makes everything better. The priest says mass quicker, the sun feels hotter, the girls seem cuter n the pints in the paraon are sweeter!

Unless you lose, then its starts raining, the cute girls go home n you realise your drinking guinness from a plastic glass!

The sense of battle , the craic , sitting amongst opposing fans and sheer buzz , good natured slagging and singing ,
An occasional burnt nose for forgetting sun cream
Sandwiches crisps
Plastic pints in Croker
Real pints in fagsns or Quinns
Taking the fourth generation to Croker and talking up theold heroes
The knot in the stomach once you get to knock out
Feeling you get when anthem is played un beatable

Ha no , reference to to the plastic porter sold in Croker , it looks like , mildly tastes like guinness , but fagans or quinns now thats the real deal .

There is a certain feel to Championhsip Sunday morning....getting up in the morning (usually slightly hungover), having the Full Irish, getting the Sunday paper to see what they are giving out about Mayo today and travelling to the game be it by car or train.
