After one week in the hurling the attendance looked fairly good in all the division 1 games with close to 7000 at the Cork game and the same number at the Clare game I think. Id say there was well over 10,000 at the Galway game aswell which is great. Does anyone know what the Division 1B attendances were like?

there was no where near 3-4 thousand in parnell park,it was smaller crowd then most club championship matches there.
they estimated there was around 9 thousand at galway v kilkenny and many of those got in free because of some mess up over the time of throw in that it was advertised for 2.30pm and started at 2pm.they said they had a crowd surge as the game was starting and had to open the gates haha.

Yeah, I heard 7K+ in Galway (I thought the AI rematch might bring in a few more than that), 6300 in Cork, a figure of 3/4k was given in the media for Parnell Park but looking at the highlights it looked more like 1000 / 1500 which would be more in ling with what you'd expect.

Anyone know what was in Cusack Park for Clare v Waterford?

I would say there was around 9-10k at Galway-Kilkenny, with probably about 1000 of those getting in for free. Apparently the information and promotional materials coming from Croke Park early in the week listed the throw-in time as 2.30, while there were corrections in the media in Galway all week some people didn't get the message. There was also only 1 stile for season ticket holders, I arrived around 1.35 and was waiting around 10-15 mins to get in.

Interestingly talking to a fella yesterday who got in late (it was 2-4 to 0-3 when he got in) he was saying he went to a turnstile the opposite side to where they opened the gate, there was a huge queue there too and they had to wait and pay. There are plenty of turnstiles in Pearse Stadium, really should have had a lot more open, even allowing for the fact that some people turned up for wrong start time

The double headers haven't added to the Dublin core hurling support. I wonder given a choice where they would prefer to play Limerick which will probably be the crucial game of the series and is scheduled for a night the footballers are on. Personnaly, I think that Parnell with 5/6000 would be preferable to playing in front of 8/9,000 in Croke Park and the place just filling up during the second half. To hell with the PR, they need the jaysus points!

Kikfada while I'd reckon there was was a bit more than that in Drogheda it was still an awful turnout. Galway probably didn't bring 50 to the game but our home support is awful. That was one of our big games this year and we couldn't even get a thousand people to go to a home game. There was nothing done to promote the game so the bandwagon supporters didn't even know it was on. You would be hard pressed to find a poster or any kind of sign anywhere in Louth promoting the game. Our county grounds is one of the the main roads into Drogheda yet there was no advertisement of the game outside. The local rugby club put signs up at every roundabout in town advertising the next game. We have to start making an effort.

I agree with HurlingDub. All of the Hurlers games should be in The Nell. Should Kildare be interested, the Spring series should be a combination of Dublin and Kildare for next season. Of course Kildare would have to acquiesce to such an arrangement but i feel it would work.

dont agree with hurlingdub. the hurlers benifited from playing in croker in the spirng series in 2011 massively,they had some cracking matches and did increase their crowds as judging by the league final with the cats.the fact they are not in division one anymore and the quality of opposition is the reason for the poor crowds if they were playing kilkenny or tipp they would draw big crowds,i also feel the hurlers on saturday in parnell does not bring the same buzz as the footballers and is not going to get the same crowd as a sunday afternoon match for them. i disagree about the limerick match if that game went ahead in parnell on the saturday night you would get the same crowd as you got last saturday nowhere near 5-6 thousand.they will benifit from the outing in croker and will tell them alot more about where they are in comparison to a mucked up parnell park on a saturday night.

how though? the atmosphere last saturday was awful i have seen more at club matches,1500 is hardly a decent neller atmosphere compared to around 15 thousand that would be in for the hurling match in croker

Still a better athmosphere that playing in front of 5/6,000 and people coming in late who have no interest in the hurlers! Which is their perogative. Only point in favour of Croker is that it is a better surface. Parnell was a mess last week but it should improve over the next while with the weather.
