Some very interesting draws
The draws for the 2018 provincial senior football championships have taken place tonight, throwing up some intriguing clashes next summer.
In Munster, Clare and Limerick square off in the quarter-finals, with the winners set to face champions Kerry, while the victors from Tipperary and Waterford will take on Cork in the other semi-final in the southern province.
Mayo and Galway will battle out west once more for the right to play either Sligo or London, while holders Roscommon will have to overcome either New York or Leitrim for a return to the same provincial decider they denied the Tribesmen back in July.
In Ulster, Tyrone host Monaghan is the pick of the clashes up north, with Donegal set to welcome Cavan in the preliminary round - the winners will play Derry - while Armagh travel to Fermanagh and Down battle with neighbours Antrim.
All-Ireland champions Dublin will play the winners of Offaly and Wicklow in the Leinster quarter-finals. Westmeath face the winners of Laois and Wexford in the first round with this year's beaten finalists Kildare up against either Louth or Carlow for a return to the semi-finals. The remaining last eight clash out east sees Longford taking on Andy McEntee's Meath side.

Nothing to see here until the super 8 stage. Interesting that we are out in the preliminary round once again v Cavan. Good thing that there are no replays next year as this will take the heat off fixtures piling up.

Could this be the year New York finally win a match in Connacht? In 2016 they lost to Roscommon by a point and you feel they may have beaten Leitrim had they been playing them instead.

just noticing that this is the fourth year in a row that Clare played Limerick in the Munster quarter with the winner going on to play Kerry and Waterford played Tipperary the past 4 years as well except for last year when Tipp got a bye to the semis. Also all of the last 4 years Kerry, Clare and Limerick were on one side of the draw and Cork, Tipperary and Waterford on the other.

Some interesting ties here, Tyrone vs Monaghan and Galway vs Mayo are clearly the main matches. Donegal vs Cavan could be decent enough. Happy to see a few more interesting draws.

Its just the luck of the draw. Donegal were unlucky to land in the Ulster side of the draw this year and last year as well.

Maybe it would be interesting if provincial councils set up draws so that teams that haven't played each other in a while get drawn against each other...? For example, Wicklow and Wexford haven't played each other since 2000, and before then it was 1983. Antrim and Down's last three meetings are 2000, 1999 and 1976.
