Dean Rock not on the RTE TOTY

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Now I know before yous say it "Rte is different to the All Star awards" but how on gods earth is Dean Rock not on Rte's team of the year? The Man has been outstanding all year and for me was our motm yesterday. Think of his performances through the league even when we were in serious trouble on our record breaking league game down in Tralee in the wind his frees were class. No way did Paul Geaney (class player) have a better season than Rock not this year , for me Rock is Dublin's player of the year. If he doesn't get an all star it will be a disgrace.

Careful now, Kingdomboy is already spitting fire and brimstone because of our win yesterday, this will tip him over the edge with you omitting Geaney.

I agree with you there. I cannot understand why he didn't get man of the match. He was brilliant.

Dean Rock just won us the biggest game of the year he was outstanding yesterday, even the most bias kerry man could not come on here and say Geaney was better than Rock this year no way.

How was Aidan O Shea listed at 11. Didn't see him doing anything as a forward all year. Bring Mannion out to 12 Con at 11 and put Dean inside .

Should be on it. Straight swap for mannion.

Clarke in goals and that's your all star team right there.

Agree rock has been brilliant but if he is in he is in for Mannion, not Geaney. Geaney was unmarkable all year and is the best inside forward in the game at the moment by a distance.

I agree Geaney is class , up there with the best inside forwards right now if not the best, but he didn't have an all star year , he scored a few nice points against Mayo but didn't do enough to be an All Star this year Mannion and Rock have been outstanding all year and both deserve all stars.

Still can't believe the man who won us the All Ireland was not picked on the team of the year, crazy stuff altogether.

Would agree about Geaney but I don't think Rock is better than Mannion, except at kicking frees.

Ah lads did anyone see how good mannion was this year?
Some people are judging dublin players differently purely because they won so many games so comfortably
Mayo struggled against teams that dublin would've hammered but yet at least half of them deserve all stars according to most people

Congratulations to Dublin, a historic three in a row achieved and five All-Irelands in seven years. A superb team.
Mayo should be very proud of their performance yesterday and lost by the smallest of margin. I hope they will
win that elusive All-Ireland shortly, no county is more deserving of an All-Ireland than Mayo with the great football
that they have played over the last six years.
With regard to All-Stars, I believe Paul Geaney is a certainty for an All Star this year as he played great football
throughout the year and is also a terrific footballer.
I expect Mayo will get the same number of All Stars as Dublin this year, as they played ten games and this provided
a great platform for their top players to display their talents and I also think that Mayo are more dependent on
their top players than are Dublin and after all Mayo only lost the All-Ireland by a whisker.

These teams will always cause debate/argument, the all stars will do the same, I thought the team named last night was pretty on the money, can't remember two finalists dominating the Sunday Game team of the year so much before, I genuinely thought they were going to take all 15 spots at one stage

I would have both Geaney and Rock on the team- two of the top forwards in the game. Rock was the difference yesterday and last year with the accuracy of his frees. I would not pay too much attention on the RTE boys!

What do you expect, TOTY was picked by a bunch of cranky auld fellas on RTE.

Rock wouldn't swap his Celtic Cross to be on 10 teams of the team.

I can't agree clondalkin, Geaney was brilliant for Kerry and is our marquee player meaning he gets picked up by the opposing sides top man marker. He still gets somewhere between 5-10 per game. His accuracy from play is crazy.

Like I said I'd have them both in there this year.

When exactly was he brilliant?

Dont think dean rock did enough to make team of the year. Take away his free taking and what are we left with. Most forwards making the TOTY are scoring more from play than him. Can be dodgy from place balls as we saw in league final and first half yesterday. Also dont think he was man of the match in AI nor was James mc carthy who had a great second Half. MOTM should have gone to the no 6 from mayo (forgive me his name escapes me at the moment) Dean rock had a good year and has his celtic cross but others had better than him. And if Dublin were given a choice between him and Geany they would pick geany every time

Aidan O Shea was picked at 11 and same in Canavans team and scored very little from play if be surprised if he averaged 1 point from play in championship. Rock scored 0-04 from play in an All Ireland final and kicked two massive frees at end of each half that were both game changers

What else? Eh only 4 points from play against one of the meanest defences in the history of Gaelic football.

Dean Rock and Lee Keegan will both get All-Stars. Don't pay too much attention to what's said on the Sunday Game.
