Should be Barrett. Probably will be McCarthy. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 7830 - 17/09/2017 23:12:12 2047094 Link 0 |
I thought Chris Barrett was magnificent today, but usually the winners get the gong, so in that case I'd go for McCarthy. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 17/09/2017 23:15:30 2047096 Link 0 |
It's gas. Dublin midfield absolutely anonymous for first half but McCarthy gets MOM. Class player but a couple of points doesn't mean he shone for most of the game ! TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 7830 - 17/09/2017 23:30:50 2047112 Link 1 |
Yes but the GAA president was at the Dublin hotel.so....

Crazy that McCarthy got it. Barratt was spectacular in all that he did but, for me, Keegan was the man who completely wiped out Dublin's playmaker and drove forward to get the goal and had to be hauled down to stop him scoring a second. McCarthy got two points after being played out of the game by AOS while at midfield

He had a great game but his mistakes cost Mayo the last two scores wheras Mc Carthy scored 2 great points and fielded the most important Mayo kick out at the end along with driving Dublin all game.. correct desicion

McCarthy was the man for Dublin today when the tide was turning against them. Some important fielding, build up and scores. Special mention to Chris Barrett and Keith Higgins, both were absolutely savage battlers today. SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2385 - 18/09/2017 00:21:02 2047160 Link 0 |
Might be due to the fact that McCarthy was moved to wing back after 8 minutes of the first half when McCaffrey went off injured. When he returned to the middle for the second half the game changed completely in Dublins favour.

I do wonder what some people do be looking at! Keegan? Totally anonymous for most of the game. He sharpened Kilkenny all over the place but I can't remember him turning ball over or actually tackling either tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 18/09/2017 09:10:09 2047232 Link 0 |
Well said. As always he was immense when it mattered. Mayo"s MOTMs were missing in the crucial last ten minutes.

Kilkenny had his least influential performance of the year and that was all down to keegan but he was never going to get MOM as it is unseen work. Mccarthy dragged the dubs up the field when they looked to be in a small bit of trouble but I think it had to be barrett who got it but it always goes to the winner so they can have the interview from the hotel.
