Pre Game All Ireland Final Festivities

(Oldest Posts First)

Hi all,

Curious to see the opinion of people regarding the in-stadium build up to the All Ireland Final. I have attended the majority of the hurling finals in recent years and the improvement in pregame festivities and entertainment has been notable. In particular the drummers and the massive county flags draped on the pitch make for a super sight as they await the arrival of the teams but I think so much more could be done. I am a huge fan of my American sports are several years living in the US so maybe I am making an unrealistic comparison.

One of my favorite parts of any sporting event is the arrival of the teams onto the field and the roar. I felt last Sunday this was somewhat lost as the arrival of both teams came so fast and without warning that they were on the field before the crowd realized.

Could be improved alright put with two teams warming up on the field it is hard to put on any kind of show.

For me that moment when the team parade stops, the players line up shoulder to shoulder, the fans clear their voices and the singing of our national anthem begins....standing towards the Tricolor and seeing your county flag proudly waving beside the national flag on the pinnacle day of the GAA season gives me the chills every time and in that moment there is nowhere and I mean nowhere else in the world I would rather be.

Whatever about pre game, Post game the nonsense of playing really loud muck like the Script (hall of fame) or black eyed peas ?? (tonights gonna be a good night) simply has to stop. It adds nothing, NOTHING to the atmosphere and infact it actually takes from it.

The boys are back in town is played so often after Dublin wins there that I'm starting to think the feckers never left in the first place.

Sort it out CP.

A fight between the two teams mascot on the sideline before the game would be a bit of a laugh. Get the crowd going. Few cheerleaders ; meh wouldn't complain. America can keep the big live performances though. I'd rather a pint.

Besides there isn't huge amount of time between the minors and the senior warm up.

If they really want to do something. I'd love there to be RTE's live commentary coming from the speakers during games. Not to loud but loud enough to hear who has the ball etc.
