I see the bookies have stopped taking bets on Gilroy being named Dubs hurling manager. Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8166 - 16/08/2017 10:08:24 2034034 Link 0 |
He was heavily linked with the Donegal job last week but not sure what truth if any was in it. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2779 - 16/08/2017 11:15:41 2034086 Link 0 |
Pat hasn't the time for the job due to business commitments, thats the issue. witnof (Dublin) - Posts: 1604 - 16/08/2017 12:35:36 2034156 Link 0 |
Sean Boylan was a hurling man so its not that mad. RoyalBadger (Meath) - Posts: 571 - 16/08/2017 12:55:59 2034171 Link 1 |
He did an amazing job with the footballers. I'm sure he would bring the same level of focus and determination to the hurling team. Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1415 - 16/08/2017 13:10:58 2034181 Link 0 |
I've learned not to doubt this man. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 16/08/2017 14:06:32 2034215 Link 0 |
I think he would do a great job with the hurlers and would have the sense to have some good hurling men around him as selectors. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 16/08/2017 14:18:08 2034230 Link 0 |
DBC have categorically denied this story.Make of that what you will. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 16/08/2017 14:18:50 2034231 Link 0 |
Any truth that Gilroy as Na Fianna football manager doesn't let any of the footballers play hurling for the club? GaaGaa78 (UK) - Posts: 285 - 16/08/2017 16:33:36 2034318 Link 0 |
I think yoy mean pullar Caffrey, I think Pat Gilroy would yld rather shovel s1ite than coach Na Fianna

Frank Dawson managed the Down hurlers in the 90's and applied for every job going ever since. He got the Antrim footballers by default 2012 and it was a disaster. Be wary of candidates with itchy feet. SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2385 - 16/08/2017 18:14:51 2034376 Link 0 |
I love that arock whether it was intended 'Pullar Caffrey'!!

Mick Dempsey managed Laois U21 and Senior footballers in the 1990s and became an integral part of Kilkenny hurling U21 and Senior management teams since 2004. Cunningham Galway and Garrycastle as you say. Heffo and the Foleys with Dublin. He'd have more respect, Gilroy, than Cunningham. Laois76 (Laois) - Posts: 1270 - 16/08/2017 19:59:32 2034426 Link 7 |
The man who turned Dublin from the nearly men of the 2000s to winners and not just that but began one of the greatest gaelic teams of all time. What have the hurlers to lose? Laois76 (Laois) - Posts: 1270 - 16/08/2017 20:02:02 2034428 Link 7 |
I know he's committed to the footballers, and an excellent footballer but boy would i love to see Con O'Callaghan play inter county hurling. He has the makings of a great. I know the young man can't do everything and it's his decision and silverware is obviously more likely with the footballers. It's not just his skills that impress me but when he's interviewed he's so grounded and such a likeable chap. No nonsense or helmet pulling etc there.
