Finally Aidan O'Shea is playing to his potential. 4 man of the matches in a row. Is Aidan OShea for player of the year??

Footballer of the year is awarded after the season finishes, pointless discussing it before the All-Ireland semis and final.

No. Wasn't man of the match the first gave v Roscommon. A Celtic cross is all that he wants. For now that dream is still alive. Still too early for Player of the Year talk. Plenty of other contenders.

He was shocking against Roscommon in the drawn match , and he disappeared in the 2nd half against your very own.
Hes playing well but lets not get carried away here considering the real tests await..

They'll have to beat Kerry.

He's definitely the front runner IMO but a good semi final and final from a player who wins the all ireland would probably see them get it.

Similarly I don't think canning has been galways best player this year but if he gets them over the line in the final he'll probably get Hitler of the year.

The next 2 games is where the player of the year is won and lost. It really only counts from here on in. The semi finals will paint a clearer picture of of his credentials for that honor. James O'Donoghue currently tops the betting; but Geaney and Donaghey have been more influential in there games overall. Matty Donnelly will be in withe a serious shout if Tyrone get past Dublin. However my money will be on Ciaran Kilkenny at 14/1.

He was poor in the drawn game against roscommon and didn't get man of the match that day. The media will be hyping this mayo team up and aido but one swallow does not make a summer. Mayo have had one good performance this summer so now we will face the real contenders and see where we stand

I'd love to see what you must be typing if Hilter is what comes up in your predictive text for 'Hurler' :)

If you look at the other 3 teams left other than Mayo there's quite a few more worthy - Peter Harte for me if he continues his current form and then goes on and wins an AI then he's the standout player - my point being the winner needs to be the major contributor to the big prize and for that reason no one deserves it yet.

Yeah I think if he has a good semi final, a big game against one of the big boys he'll put himself out in front of the rest.
Players of the year is mostly dictated on the games from here on in
I think Peter Harte, David Moran and Paul Mannion are all in the running too though

Lee Keegan as the crow flies here, he is the real leader of that Mayo team and has led by example throughout.

He has been in this position before after the Quarter final stage, most notably in 2012 when he was immense in the quarter final V Donegal but failed to perform in the semi final (v Tyrone) or final v Dublin). The POTY year can be decided on one game (the final) is someone plays good enough. Yes he is in with a shout but he needs two more big games to get it

couple of Mayo players ahead of him.
Plenty from Dublin, Kerry and Tyrone have better chance also.
Wait till after Semi's as POTY will come from one of finalists
