Can Galway do the double

Can Galway do the hurling and football AI double this year ? they are in with a good chance of winning the hurling and looked pretty good against Donegal in the football last time out

I guess it is possible they could do it but they probably will not

I think you have answered your own question. Most ppl would say, with good reason, definitely not.

They will win the hurling but without a seriously physical approach I couldn't see them beating Kerry in the fotball.

Not good enough for the football , however in coming years with a bit of experience they just may be the team to give it the best go in many a year , have taken over Cork Dublin Tipp as top dual county at the moment

I think the hurlers have their best chance in manys a long year, but the footballers are more mercurial than my own crowd, which isn't a terrific quality for success. Still they're the only ones who can and with no pressure on them could have a right cut at the Kingdom on Sunday.

I'll stand on my head if they beat Kerry, let alone win the double. Donegal made Galway look better than they actually are

Galway have not had a test yet in hurling. Tipp, Cork, Wf are all serious contenders. Galway have never beaten WF ever in c'ship and have never beaten Cork in a final. They are set up for an ambush against Tipp, cannot look past this semi. Galway are not favorites imo but they have been set up by the media and most people have taken the bait.

Footballers not there yet. Hurlers have the ability pound for pound they have the best players. Hurlers have been very unlucky last few years they have to be hurting and bring a ready to die attitude against Tipp if they do they will win and same attitude in final ye pe we all Ireland hurling champion

Couldn't agree more. And don't get me wrong: I'm not being harsh for the sake of it! There have been a lot of positives so far, with the team showing some consistency for the first time in decades. I'll be so happy to see an end to the whole "it depends on which Galway shows up".

So far this championship we've beaten none of the big teams and with Tipp apparently on the verge of getting over whatever slump hit them starting with the league final, they, to my mind, are still the team to beat.

As to the footballers, they have a long way to go before we could realistically expect them to beat Kerry, Dublin or Tyrone.

A poster from Dublin , Roscommon and Tippeary saying we've no chance. Dublin hurlers are a shambles bet out the gate by a Tipp team in 2nd gear, do Roscommon play hurling? Tipp footballers knocked out by a division 3 team. Galway have a hurling team in a semi final and footballers in a quarter final, by far the strongest dual county out there, imagine if we did a dublin / kerry or kilkenny and only concentrated on ONE game, I think we'd have alot more silverware.

Maybe not this year, but the footballers are making great strides, and the hurlers, well they are always up there...

No they won't in my opinion, great chance at the hurling though and I hope they do in the small ball.

Here's a Galway man saying the same thing -- we have no chance of winning the double. Does that make it better? These stupid threads really are really only for the kids.
