Who are-were the fastest footballers past and present ?

I know that Jimmy Kerrigan has got serious pace but is not as fast now as he was in the past

It's pace and precision that counts

Some top footballers out there that enjoy both

Prob not as fast as he used to be but Darran O'Sullivan I always thought was class

Right up there alongside him would be Jack McCaffrey and Kev Mc

They've both proven what pace and precision can achieve

Stephen Kelly from Limerick was one of the fastest players on the inter county scene in his pomp. Played for Ireland in the international rules, should have won at least 3 munster medals and also won a few AIL rugby medals for Shannon playing on the wing. I could be wrong but I think he also played for Cork City on the wing for a season.

Eamon Wallace from Meath. not sure if he is still playing. he was a 100 or 200 metre sprinter I think in athletics and ran for Ireland. He was very fast, scored a great goal against Tyrone a few years back.
I have seen many players who are extremely fast runners but you put an O'Neill's football in their hand and it takes them an hour to run the length of the pitch(sic). Ball flys up in the air, off their knees, elbow, head, arse. I would rather have a player who has the basic skills off soloing and bouncing the ball at pace than someone who is just a speed merchant.

You'd hardly call Kevin Mc pacy as in what the thread is meant for. Jack Mc for sure is lightning.

Jimmy is Paul Kerrigan's father? I wouldn't expect him to be as fast as he was in the past?!

Jimmy played in the 1980s with Cork, Paul's father. Maybe there is another brother..

Kev Mc is pacey..

Great turn of speed while having excellent control of the ball

He's scored many a goal due to his pace and direct running

Would you consider him not to have pace?

Caolan Mooney from Down, When he played AFL with Collingwood his nickname was meep meep after the road runner.

Sean Murphy from Carlow has serious pace.

Mickey Linden was a speed merchant but a very talented, capable footballer as well. His darting, in and out runs are memorable. Superb footballer.

Yeah I was thinking of him as well. He was unbelievably fast, a nightmare to play against for an unfortunate wing back.
