I'd say Clare arrived in regular numbers. Cork brought EVERYONE. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 12/07/2017 14:07:03 2015590 Link 1 |

Clare aren't great supporters by Munster standards. Davy Fitz has talked about it before. Core support of about 5000 that are diehards. The rest are hit and miss. All the rest of the Munster counties show them up. And Cork does have more people than the whole of Connacht. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 12/07/2017 17:04:50 2015711 Link 0 |

Is it right for players to question supporters? Clare in my view always had great following. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 12/07/2017 17:31:42 2015724 Link 0 |
i think it is wrong of anybody to question supporters! perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 12/07/2017 18:31:30 2015768 Link 0 |
Its strange but I think Clares support dwindled almost straight away after the 2013 AI win. Being AI champs you would have expected a huge following but the numbers reduced. I have a suspicion that the type of hurling being played does not entice the general public. They preferred the cut and thrust of the more physical teams of the past. The die hards like myself will continue travelling regardless! ZUL10 (Clare) - Posts: 693 - 12/07/2017 21:37:35 2015827 Link 0 |
No we didn't. We'll have 50,000 fans at the semi final.

In 2013 The attendance at the Waterford Clare Quarter Final in 2013 was 12K. 7.5K showed up for the qualifier between Clare and Laois in Ennis In 2015 the Offaly Clare qualifier in 2015 brought 14K to Ennis Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1410 - 12/07/2017 22:28:33 2015849 Link 0 |
Will many travel to Cork Zul? Remember 1999 drawn game in Cork there was savage crowd there well over 43000 I think in the baking heat!! Those were the days!! WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 12/07/2017 22:39:24 2015854 Link 0 |
BAN..The 2015 game was a double header with the footballers. Attendances at these kind of games are erratic. ZUL10 (Clare) - Posts: 693 - 12/07/2017 22:57:25 2015862 Link 0 |
I remember being very surprised at the 2014 clash. I though Cork and Clare would fill Thurles after the epic All Ireland and replay of the previous year. Throw in the controversy over Nash's penalties, the Davy and JBM factors, the game seemed to sell itself. Clare, Tipp and Waterford followings have all fallen away in recent years. Cork have a huge population but to be fair their hurling support has remained fairly consistent. Given any hint of success they come out in numbers. Had this been Clare vs Waterford or Tipp I'd say they would hardly have hit 30,000 which is a pity - the Munster final was traditionally a guaranteed sellout. dahayeser (Cork) - Posts: 331 - 13/07/2017 09:22:17 2015931 Link 0 |
Corks population is 4( nearly 5 ) times Clares population so in theory they should outnumber Clare 4 to one. hurler32 (Limerick) - Posts: 867 - 13/07/2017 12:10:29 2016035 Link 0 |
