Louth Minors!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

As a proud Louth man I just want to say congrats to the Louth minors on reaching their first Leinster final since 1971. I made the long trip down to the sunny south east and by god was it worth it. They have beaten Laois away, Offaly at home and Wexford away to reach the promise land this year. In each of them three matches they have come from behind to win them. In the two matches against Offaly and Wexford they were seven points down at one stage. The Dubs beat Louth in the final in 1971. The last time the minor title was won by the Wee County was back in 1953 when they beat Kildare. Louth also won the Senior title in 1953 when they beat Wexford in the final. It was the only time that Louth won both the senior and minor in the same year. Louth will play the winners of Kildare and Dublin who are playing tonight in Newbridge. I would also like to thank the Wexford supporters who were very gracious in defeat and came over and shook my hand and wished the Wee Men all the best in the final.

Well said Ollie and well done indeed to the Louth minors, great achievement in reaching he final and having to battle so hard in those matches, a timely boost for football in Louth. Good luck to them in the final.

Ollie, well done to Louth on reaching the Minor final. About to head off to see our Minors against Dublin. Hopefully Kildare will be providing the opposition to Louth in the Final. No matter the outcome the Wee County will play in the All-Ireland QF. A timely boost for Louth football after your seniors bowing out of the Championship.

Cheers Richieq. Yes it's a badly needed boost for the Wee County. With Dublin and Kildare in the senior final and one of them teams playing Louth in the minor final there should be a good crowd at the Leinster finals.

Enjoy the final Ollie and then roar your lungs out for the Lily seniors. We'll need every bit of support we can get.

Well done Louth, and all the best in the final. A good minor group has often been the springboard to future success, as in Westmeath and Laois not so long ago.

Why not? Louth reached their first minor Leinster final in 46 years.

Well done to the Louth minors making the Leinster final after so many years.

Dubs v Louth in the final after Dubs beat the hotly fancied Lillies team down in Newbridge this evening.
