Mayo vs Clare

Going to be interesting to see how this ends up, Clare are not a team to take for granted at all, will Mayo show the respect Clare deserve. Mayo really struggled against Derry. I think I may go for a narrow Mayo win hear.
Mayo 1+

Clare are the only team in the draw who are in form and to get them in Ennis is tough. They won't fear Mayo either, so if Mayo aren't the better side the result will reflect this... Clare won't be carrying any psychological baggage like they do when they meet Kerry. A big crowd will travel I reckon.

Its a tricky fixture for Mayo who will be without Paddy Durcan and possibly a fully fit Lee Keegan.

Gary Brennan's tussle with O Shea/Parsons will be interesting. Clare have some dangerous forwards who took Laois to the cleaners.

If Mayo converted 50% of their chances v Derry they would have been 7 or 8 point winners in normal time. They will need to up those percentages. Ironically the extra time period could prove to be beneficial in terms of restoring confidence in a misfiring forward division. Mayo by 3

Are some folk seriously concerned about Mayo playing Clare? A worry if you are thinking of an AI and this is considered a tricky hurdle.

Not being disrespectful to Clare but the Dubs/Kerry/Tyrone would expect to win this one easily - even if they had key players missing.

It's form that matters. Clare may not be div 1, but they were last 8 last year and are confident and progressing. Better team than the Derry one we struggled to get over. This is sport and we've no edge to bring to the game which will cause Clare to play within themselves. This has been the way since Horan left, but the players seem to still have a ferocious appetite and hopefully that extra time on Saturday will bring their mojo back in front of the posts.

Yerselves, Kerry and Tyrone are all in great form, we aren't. We'll need a big improvement to get to the next round.

I'd expect Mayo to win but I suspect that this could be a tight affair. One thing about Mayo is you should predict us to win or Write us off there is definite chances of us proving you wrong. Mayo will definitely need to improve from the showing for the first 67 minutes against Derry I'm sure Clare will be well prepared for this match.

Didn't realise anyone was thinking we could win an All Ireland, we are playing poorly so can't take anyone for granted. Mayo don't know where they are at.

Daft post: Dublin and Kerry would be expected to beat just about any team in the country easily enough at the moment, with Tyrone not far behind. That has nothing to do with this game. Mayo are struggling to find form and can take nothing for granted. They couldn't beat a shoddy Galway defense despite playing with a gale force wind behind them and they only pulled away from Derry in extra time. If the win against Derry has brought their confidence up, and they're beginning to find their form, then Clare are in for a bad day. Otherwise, it could be tight all the way to the wire.

I'm very curious to see how the season goes for Mayo; the similarities will last year are striking and after struggling through the qualifiers they put it to Dublin twice. They're currently down, but definitely not out!

Kerry played them the game before last and got their fill of it and if it hadn't been for the returning O'Donoghue might well have been beaten.

Kerry like the All Blacks last Saturday were down to 14 men in their game against Clare.

Did u not see Mayo on Saturday! I thought before the draw that this was Mayo's worst possible draw.

Brennan v O'Shea will be a great battle

The people who think Mayo will win easily most think they are the bets / 2nd best in the land or that Kerry are no good

They gave us a real tough game and but for hitting the post early in the 2nd half while leading could well have been winning the Munster Title yesterday...

I'm not the one needs to wake up. Clare are a decent team and the Mayo forwards cannot afford another off day.

Serious banana skin here, Mayo are going to have to work very hard for this one, not long after a tough game with Derry, it will test them big time!

How will mayo line out? Coen, Vaughan and boland will be lucky to keep their place. Doherty, loftus, d o Connor, s o shea could start.
Loftus scored against a poor and tired derry defense so I don't think he is the Messiah but worth a start if his confidence is high.
I've heard some people calling for coen or Vaughan in full back. Neither strong enough under a high ball for that position

Are we going to bother with a centre back, we didn't seem to have one last day.
