Its hard to know what Meath team will show up. They have been so inconsistent this year so far. I would expect them to beat Sligo but if the defence continues to play the same way then we are in trouble. They constantly give their man a couple of yards unlike the top teams where they are feverishly putting pressure on the attacker. If they can sort that out i think that a good building block.

Interesting game, and probably good for Meath to get back into action. On one hand Meath could rack up a big score if Sligo are not up to standard, on the other Meath are no world beaters they are a division 2 side playing a division 3 side with some quality players. Expectations and reality don't always match up. I expect Meath will win by 5-6 point

If this was in Sligo, they would have had a chance, but expect Meath to win handy enough by 5-7 pts

I expect Sligo's physicality to cause problems for Meaths full back line. Also, the last two Meath managers have dropped their main scoring threats, first O'Dowd dropped Sheridan and Ward when he took charge and now McEntee has dropped Newman! Seems strange but I expect this to be a shoot out and Meath to shade it with a couple to spare.

If this game was in Sligo I be worried, but I expect meath to win in navan, after the last day v Kildare I think the work rate will improve massively

It's in Navan and I'm still worried, so far this year we've shown that when on form we can tear teams apart (v Derry, Fermanagh & Clare), that we can battle hard under pressure and get a result (v Cork, Galway & Louth) and of course that we can be like hapless rabits caught in the headlights (v Kildare twice & Down).

So what do I expect against Sligo......not a fcukin clue, let's just see what happens.

Ps, I do accept though that it's Andy McEntee's first season incharge and it's still far too early to be expecting miracles.

If i am honest Htaem i don't think that 1 hour warm up before the Kildare match under a cooking sun helped matters !

Maybe not but we can't look for excuses either and what's done is done, if a mistake was made then you'd just hope that we learned from it and can improve.

I am a huge fan of Andy McEntee, a top manager, but that warm up was a serious error in that unbelievable heat.
Would we have won? No. Would we have been a hell lot better ? Yes.
But mistakes happen. Andy has and will continue to have my 100% support.
We will win this game, bit it is next one that will define andys first year.

Sligo are a good team. I expect this to go to extra-time. Meath 17 points , Sligo 1:14 .. still level after extra time Meath 2:20 , Sligo 3:17.
what a game

Still think you will beat the Dubs in Leinster in the 3 years you predicted a while back? ;)

So it was the weather/ warm up that's the excuse. Well surely they would have performed at least until half time no?
Where were all the great players we read so much about?

Nah it wasn't the weather or warm up jonno, better team won and won well, there's no doubt about that. Anyway best of luck the next day out, would love to see a competitive Leinster final again.

And off you go again disrespecting another team rd, just totally dismissing Sligo. Constantly telling us over the last few month's how you's were better than Galway and Kildare and the last couple of year's how you's were so much better than Cavan and Roscommon too yet all of these team's have been promoted ahead of Meath over the last couple of year's. And then you wonder why people on here let rip at you after you're beaten, a little bit of humility from you would go a long way

That's what supporters do they believe in there team when no neutrals do supporters can be very naive, just like mayo supporters they convince themselves every year that this year they'll win Sam when everyone else knows they won't, it's totally natural there's nothing wrong with Meath fans thinking they'll beat Sligo, as I'm sure there's Sligo fans thinking they'll beat meath, it's not being disrespectful are we supposed to keep our opinions to ourselves

Yes, agreed. Can you imagine not one mayo mam or woman saying they wouldn't win Sam since 1951. ? Every year there's a new song about them winning it. Very disrespectful to a
Other counties. Terrible stuff altogether
