Pat Spillane's Inconsistency

(Oldest Posts First)

Not trying to play the victim card here because in my opinion, Diarmuid Connolly deserved and got a 12 week ban for "minor physical interference with an official" but it annoys me that Spillane made absolutely no mention of the Louth player (Burns I think) kicking a ball at an umpire? He was rightly sent off for it but surely Pat should've been calling for a lifetime ban..

different topic but the heading fits, he was on about the disorganised defending from Donegal today, but when we had a very tight defence in 2011 he never stopped crying about how bad it was for football, he just likes to whinge about something it seems.

was the louth player deliberately kicking the ball at the umpire. there was quite a distance them so i dont think you could ever prove that. it was carded for kicking the ball away and that was all.

Think you need the move on man - the current SG panelists are very inconsistent and lots of forums have been created suggesting this - sure only a few weeks ago Tyrone had no chance of winning anything because they have no marque forwards and don't score goals - now Pat thinks they're world beaters - for Tyrone fans the curse of Pat has been issued.

Did you know - that an anagram of Pat Spillane is 'a P-panellist'. Quite apt really.

(That OK Mods? ;-) )

He also, it appears, has total disregard and disrespect for the time and effort players from smaller counties put in..he constantly sneers about their footballing capabilities as do some of the other panellists, save for dessie Dolan and to be fair to him, Ciaran whelan... These players devote themselves year in year out, for the sole purpose of playing gaa for their respective county and with no carrot at the end of it. These players should be cherished and praised. Without them the gaa out be a very small community..its very easy to go and train in Feb, abstaining from this, that and the other, when a leinster, Munster or all Ireland glory is a strong possibility...also very easy to go a support such a team...a couple of years ago, I heard a comment from the now esteemed roscommon manager...wicklow were playing in aughrim and only lost by a couple of points..the anchor says "aughrim is always a hard place to get out of" to which the "knowledgeable pundit" replied, "what...the traffic"...even though I'm not from wicklow, this comment made me sick, and reflects the contempt that some of these "experts" have for these counties, players and supporters.
