I know it is an absolute joke. They are showing g Down vs Armagh at two when that match is being showed on BBC2 also. They could have gotten Louth vs Meath and Laois vs Kildare which would have been great, will probably be to good matches. Then sky sports are showing Limerick vs Clare at 4.

Because the GAA has sold it's soul.

There are 2 games on Sky the weekend I think.

Clare v Limerick and Dublin v Carlow

Because they're not the only broadcaster licences to show GAA matches.

So the GAA has got a pile of money so less people can watch our games on TV. People can dress it up whatever way they want buts that's the facts. Not everyone has SKY and some that do cant afford SKY sports. Its not right for an amateur organisation to do this.

'It's not right' in your opinion wd45, amateur organization or not, The Gaa needs to make money to keep on funding the games and the Sky deal is just another form of revenue, simple as that.

Also it's worth noting that RTE are still the big winners here, they'll broadcast 31 games this year including all the provincial finals, all AI semi-finals and both AI finals. Sky will broadcast 20 games, only 14 of which will be exclusive (that's less than half of RTE'S total games), the most important of which is 2 exclusive AI football quarter-finals.

So basically I think we need to calm down a little, we're complaining over very first world problems here, it's not the end of the world and the majority of games will still be on free to air tv, including the vast majority of big games.

So would you be ok if the SKY had the rights to all televised games and RTE had none just because it makes more money.???

Everything with the GAA these days is down to money.. Fair enough they are bringing in more revenue than ever before but they are losing so many supporters by doing this. It shouldn't be always about money.

No I wouldn't like to see Sky getting full exclusive coverage but I don't really see that happening anyway, plus this deal runs till 2022 I believe so there's no immediate danger of it. Also personally I like to see as many games on free to air tv as possible (that goes for all sports not just gaa), but competition is good.

Are the Gaa losing many supporters over the Sky deal or even just in general? I'm not saying one way or the other but do the numbers back this up? Are fewer people attending intercounty games and playing our games at club and school level than ever before?

Now I'm guessing (without figures to back me up) that the Gaa has lost a share of the market, say compared to the 70s and 80s etc, but I'd imagine that has more to do with the greater amount of competition from other sports these days than simply the Gaa doing a deal with Sky.

How can you say that the GAA are losing followers over having games on Sky? There are more games televised now than ever before, in fact RTE are showing more games in this deal than were shown in the last deal. Only the big games were televised for years, and I don't think the GAA were losing fans then. We would all prefer if the games were free to air but personally I think its no harm giving games to other stations than RTE. The problem I have with the Sky deal is that it was sold as an opportunity to televise the games to a wider audience in the UK, which is completely untrue as they were already available on Premier Sports at a cheaper price.

Tg4's championship starts tonight, they've a great lineup of games for the summer , a fine example of how to promote the U21 championship .

I'm not defending the GAA but would like to point out that they are not an amateur organisation. They pay quite a few full time staff.

As for all ireland finals going PPV, it would be illegal for the GAA to let this happen so unless our government changes their stance on it, it won't happen.

It'll probably be a long time before the All-Irelands are pay per view, if ever.

id prefer if sunday game had less analysis and more action, and show all games in highlights format - limerick footballers trainign hard all year and only get given a few mins in report format.

also most of the analysis on cork v waterford focused on cork being poor rather than waterford playing well

This super 8 is going to determine semi professional football in future.Gaa will b paying those teams in this group probably thru sky getting more games to show.the rest will b living off the scraps.rte could yet b redundant.
