HS hurling team of the week

(Oldest Posts First)

I've no understanding of how these teams are picked. Since one person can't watch every game, there must be some sort marking system compiled by two or more people.

That said, I fail to understand the reasoning or logic behind this week's hurling team.

The counties of the fifteen players selected this week were: Cork 3 - Kilkenny 3 - Galway 2 - Waterford 2 - Wexford 2 - Clare 1 - Dublin 1 - Offaly 1.

Not one Tipperary player picked? They scored 3-16 in a match described by the Irish Times as "an epic", losing by one point.

Same as the All Stars. Each have their opinion really. For example TJ Reid got rave reviews for his 3-5 against TIpp and personally I thought he was average by his standards. Media tend to latch onto players and scores for headline purposes. Cillian Buckley was by far man of the match that day but he didn't get a mention anywhere

Well at least with the all-stars, those making the decisions have seen most of the matches.
But it is easier said than done, to see 6 matches at the same time, what more can you do only hear who was outstanding in each game.

Real pinch of salt stuff alright - but I'm sure the article gets plenty of hits and its forgotten about very quickly as the next round of matches are never too far away.

P.S. How could you have a Tipp lad on the team when they weren't trying :-)
