Remains to be seen. Might be worth a fiver on the draw!

Really looking forward to this match and for a neutral it's a win/win because you couldn't begrudge either team. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 01/09/2017 11:42:25 2041529 Link 1 |
Really good thing about this final is it's novelty factor. I know Galway have been in a number of finals over the last few years but always against the Kilkenny machine.... skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1056 - 01/09/2017 13:15:30 2041578 Link 0 |
I actually wish they could all decide that everybody is a winner, send half the cup west of the Shannon and half of it to the Gentle county! Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 01/09/2017 14:40:14 2041609 Link 0 |
Have never looked forward to a final more as a neutral. It probably helps that neither KK or Tipp aren't in it as I am a Cork man :) Chef1985 (Cork) - Posts: 3 - 01/09/2017 15:06:25 2041619 Link 0 |

What has the general build-up for the match been like this week? I'm away from home, so its hard for me to tell, but it seems to be a bit more subdued than I'd have expected, going by the general national media outlets, forums, etc. I thought there'd have been a huge build up to this game, given the 2 teams involved (neither have won an AI in last 29 years, neither Tipp or Kilkenny involved etc), and I'm sure its mental within the 2 counties involved, but I thought there'd be more build up in the media this week. Especially after the record crowds that showed up to the 2 semi's. Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 01/09/2017 17:09:52 2041657 Link 0 |

If you were to judge the interest based on the threads on Hogan stand you'd swear that the game wasn't even on... But this is a 90% football forum so not sure how representative it could be. Big interest around Limerick anyway.. Delighted to see a non Tipp / Kilkenny AI final. skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1056 - 01/09/2017 17:58:20 2041671 Link 0 |
The interest is there. The fact that there were 2 football semi finals on last weekend took the focus off the hurling final so the media build up only really started 2 or 3 days ago.

Starting Glynn is a big call by Galway management, but Niall Burke did have a quiet day against Tipperary. David Burke suggested earlier this week that the game could be decided by who comes out top in midfield and it's hard to disagree - if Galway are to win then Coen or David Burke will need to be man of the match contenders. Looking forward to what will be a great occasion and hopefully a great game. May the best team win. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 02/09/2017 12:08:25 2041777 Link 0 |
I would not have started Jonny Glynn. I think Jason Flynn should have started, or the same team against Tipp that started. Bringing on Jonathan Glynn is a "Mayo" style stroke. Will it work. I am glad Galway have a good bench. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2517 - 02/09/2017 13:59:32 2041810 Link 0 |
Flynn has done nothing to warrant a start in the championship. At least Niall Burke has had a decent year. Glynn is the right man to start if we want goals. The best handpasser I've ever seen and selfless. Diabhal (Galway) - Posts: 181 - 02/09/2017 15:13:25 2041827 Link 0 |
Without Kilkenny in the All Ireland final there is an element of "Hamlet without the Prince" about it, but shur I might tune in for the last couple of minutes to see who wins...... ballydalane (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1246 - 02/09/2017 15:25:04 2041829 Link 0 |

I've posted long and often probably going a unheard about how much I hate Kilkenny , your post says it so much better than I ever could Even if it's said in jest the arrogance rings true from all my experience with Cats
