Kildare V Meath

Replying To lilywhite1:  "I don't know where you get the idea Donegalman, that Kildare won't be able to cope with the Meath's pace. Both teams have pace aplenty, but I suppose in a high intensity game and in the expected heat on Saturday fitness may well be a deciding factor in the end if the game is tight."
You could be right but I have a hunch that Meath will pull away.

Dont think there will be much in it either way, a draw looks on the cards.

Looking forward to this match myself Royaldunne. After the Dubs, Meath and Kildare are the next big guns in Leinster. Hopefully it will be a cracker. The weather is meant to be a scorcher tomorrow.

I'll get a tan ollie, better one than on the bog footing turf. :).
It should be a cracking game, and after all the banter or whatever on this thread over past couple of weeks, I wish both teams and their supporters well, both play to their potential and show the rest of country just how good Leinster football can be.
Btw Ollie ill be keeping a ear into louths game too hoping the wee progress.

Scorching weather, a packed stadium and 2 really evenly matched traditional teams that don't like each other. For all the moaning about championships structures it doesn't get much better than this

One expected and positive, the other a blow no doubt.

Could be all rumours though as always.

Really a 50/50 game today.

Maybe a slight bit more pressure on us as our management team might feel they're a year further down the road in terms of development than Meath are. Then again I don't think any of us would have expected promotion to brush aside Laois so easily at the start of the year.

You'd expect the winner to give Dublin a tougher test than they've been getting over the last few years in Leinster, and you'd expect the loser to have a decent run through the qualifiers (as long as they avoid Mayo in round 3 I suppose).

We should have the edge around the middle, our midfield is more settled and better all round I think and Donnellan is less error prone than O'Rourke so I'd expect his kickouts to find their man a bit more often.

Imagine it'll be pretty high scoring, neither defence is water tight and both sets of forwards are capable of creating goal chances aplenty.

Couple of pundits tipping Meath which is fair enough but you'd wonder how much division 2 football they saw this year or what they're actually basing it on? Both sides have an almost identical record against each other since the 3 games in 97 and I honestly think all the talk of Meath's tradition and history is a bit of an insult to the current bunch of players and management team. If they win today it'll have f*** all to do with history and tradition and will be because they're an improving young side who happened to play better on the day.

A win could potentially be a massive boost for either side in their development going forward.

Good stuff Royaldunne. I will ask Colm Corrigan to give you a mention. What a day today. If Meath lose and Louth win Royaldunne wee have a 1 in 4 chance of playing each other again in the qualifier's. Should that happen you will not have to worry about Parnell Park. The match will be in Navan.

I'd expect this one to go down to the wire. Kildare might have a small bit extra but it wouldn't surprise me if it went the other way. Goalie could be the difference and whichever makes less mistakes could hold the key.

Have to agree i think this game will do both teams a world of good championship is what its all about two good managers some good footballers on both teams meath have more work to do going on louth game if we give away goal chances like that kildare will beat us out the game but hope andy has learned from louth game benches will be huge we have no one to bring on if wer are losing midfield battle but we do have some attacking players whats kildares bench like .may best team win i will be supporting kildare v dubs hope the same applies if meath win .meath by 2 points for me

I honestly hope Meath win, but, I wouldn't trust Paddy O'Rourke as far as I could throw him, so I wouldn't be atall surprised to see a keeper error decide this

Feely out for Kildare. This has to tip the scales to Meath now.

Not Feely but still a big setback even if Paddy replaces him.

Straight swap with Paddy but still a massive loss after the damage he did in Navan.

Yeah I don't think this game will define either teams season, I do think Meath could probably do with the win a bit more on the basis there was probably a bit more expectation there going into the league and after missing out on promotion. No doubt there's been improvement over the last few months but they need to show it today I think.

Could easily see this one being a draw but at the same time wouldn't be surprised to see either team get on a bit of a run in the second half an pull away to win by 5 or 6.

At you just love beating us Liamo, but you could be right, Paddy could well decide this!
