Kildare V Meath

Really looking forward to this game because of their recent results. I just hope the winner can add growth to their wins and put up some sort of challenge to Dublin in Leinster and bring a bit of Life back into the province.

I have been following the thread though with interest. Looking forward to the game with nervous anticipation. It's going to be a lot closer than the League game in Navan on the opening day. Meath are a much improved team from that day with a strong League finish and an impressive display of scoring against Louth, far from being a one man forward line in Graham Reilly as some observers seem to think. On a personal level I'm glad for you that your faith in Andy McEntee has been vindicated as you were swimming very much against the tide of opinion on the Meath forum in the aftermath of the League loss to Kildare.
Might see you in Tullamore on Saturday night. Best wishes and may the best team win and go on to give the Dubs(more than likely)a real lash."
Great to have you back my old friend..

Fancy Meath by 1 in this especially after hitting 27 scores in last game that's incredible scoring for championship football

A lot of the hubris in here from Meath fans is looking very silly.

Your lot haven't been much better.

Its a 55/45 game in Kildares favour. Nothing for either team to get overly confident about. Kildare fans looked very silly in 2012 when they went into that over confident.

Look I think while it will be difficult for both teams in hot conditions, we are 100 times fiter than last year which will stand to us. As for the supporters? God help us lol

thinking about this now,if we had rammed a few goals in against louth and looked solid at the back we may be going into this game with too much confidence. not sure how many teams have perfect displays first game out, kerry last week too..
look at dublin,if we played carlow and lead by a few points until their best player got sent off, many here would be seriously worried.
another thing that might stand to meath is the fact that our character has been called into question more than kildare and we showed that character or spirit if you want.
in the league questions were asked after the kildare game.we were 9 points down in cork and got a draw.andy wasn't happy but we responded in devastating fashion against fermanagh. we eeked out a result against galway when it looked like galway had turned the tide. against louth we were by far the better side, but we responded brilliantly to their freak goal in the 2nd half and went on to win it easily. we could have crumbled there.
how many times were kildare in possible tricky situations that they came through?
if this game is tight with 10mins to go,i would strongly fancy us to edge it.

That's true ziggy, we have shown good character at times throughout this year, which is a far cry from the last couple of years where the exact opposite is true. I think if MOD was still incharge we probably would have lost this year's game v Louth.

Kildare will be far improved oppostion though (no offense to Louth) so it will be very interesting to see how we deal with the pressure they put us under.

I see Meath winning this one. I feel that they were unlucky last year in division 2 with some of their results. If you take their bad start out of the league this year, especially the down game, they were well worth promotion imo. 27 points is also a very good yardstick as to what they are about.

I think that the game will be decided in the 2nd half, when Kildare will not be able to cope with Meath's pace.

I could be wrong, but 16/1 for meath to win leinster is an excellent price and worth at least 20 euro.

I don't know where you get the idea Donegalman, that Kildare won't be able to cope with the Meath's pace. Both teams have pace aplenty, but I suppose in a high intensity game and in the expected heat on Saturday fitness may well be a deciding factor in the end if the game is tight.
