GaelicMeath: The last time Galway won the all-Ireland was 2001 when they beat the living daylights out of Meath. Meath's last title was 1999. 2001 is more recent than 1999. Galway's other all-Irelands were: 1925, '34, '38, '56, '64, 65, '66 and '98. Use your fingers to count these out loud and you will get 9. (get your dad to help if you are having difficulty).

I dont know who gaelic meath is but he appears a tad simplistic and overly dependent on his father so I would pay little heed. As a Meath man I certainly dont hate the western province and enjoyed attending many finals including this years which was most enjoyable. If this present Roscommon team keep the head they could win a few provincial titles and make an impression on the All Ireland, their young but have a good luck about them and Galway and Mayo have a bit of rebuilding to do. Sligo have another title in them I feel and you never know with Leitrim they always competitive. Lots of good supporters west of the Shannon too who always made me feel welcome, even in Mayo with a Meath geansai on me, never a problem.

good post! and good luck in your q/f!

reminds me of a day I set off from a farm to Swinford town in North Mayo, before getting a lift to Castlebar to see Galway/Donegal q/f.......proudly decked out in maroon. It was about 3 miles from the farm to the town (probably still is) and I never got so much goodhearted abuse. I laughed all the way there. When we got beat that day, I left Castlebar and got brought into a pub where I wasn't allowed buy a pint for hours. It was a great day, and one I've had replicated all over the country - from some of the posters here you would get the idea that its like trench warfare!
