Replying To Joxer:  "As an Antrim man I am sure you can relate to the Meath man's provincial sentiments. The reality is that there is just one good team, not sure if Tyrone are that good, in each province and it's been like that for some time now. It's up to others to raise their game. What's not to like about seeing two teams who are coming to a final to play football, arguably the greatest team of all time against arguably the greatest team from the West of all time. They played out some classic games in recent years and the best players in the country will be on show. It's going to be epic."
I've huge admiration for this Mayo team, but it'd be some argument to say they're the greatest team ever from the West. The 3-in-a-row Galway team would have something to say about that, and that's ignoring the 98-01 team.
I will say however, that their level of consistency over the last 5 years is extraordinary. They're certainly up there, All-Ireland win or not.

I'm very much looking forward to Sunday and hoping our neighbours will win and bring Sam across the Shannon and make it a great year for the West.

Replying To Damothedub:  "If you had come across the opposite would you have started a post on it ??? I somehow doubt it with your track record. I watched every final regardless of who's been in them for the last 44 years , I watch the hurling which my county are never in , and I will watch the minor final on Sunday , you see your either a whinger or a fan , with the likes of you we will never win because if we win the Nostradamus of the North will be on with his customary we'll done to be followed with endlessl posts of what he really thinks , and if we lose you will probably slate us for being overrated and gym monkeys , you see sooner or later you become predictable which my boy you really are"
Omg post of the year , no come back from Ulster man totally put back in his box boom it's over Ulsterman you have been defeated Damo is the champion.

The two best attacking teams in the country doing battle again, Mayo trying to end the long long wait for Sam and Dublin going for the three in a row. Loads of potentially great match ups and plenty of needle between indiviiduals. Would be better if the final was between two sub standard teams. After all, who wants to see the best teams in finals?

I watched Liverpool v Arsenal instead of the second half of the semi final. I hope Sunday makes me watch more of a game I have little more than a passing interest in!

I actually had this conversation with a few people from work today. Few Tyrone people, few Fermanagh men and a Fermanagh man living in Longford that is sitting on a committee for a club in Leitrim and everyone of them said the same thing. Very little build up for the game, not the same hype as usual.

Yes I'll watch the game but it just doesn't feel like All Ireland final week.

There's been a decent amount of hype in our office. Cavan man, Kildare man, me a few from the west. There's not much hype in the club in Meath. There just won't be much hype from Meath fans about a Dublin game, particularly one where they're very likely to win to complete a 3 in a row.

Something tells me if Mayo are winning in the closing minutes, all of a sudden there'll be unprecedented interest :D

Replying To Ulsterman:  "Outside of Dublin and Mayo I don't think I have ever encountered as much apathy, indifference and disinterest at an All Ireland final as this one. I was talking to a few Meath fellas in Scotland at the weekend and they had the same attitude. Shrugged their shoulders and said "the game is dying on it's proverbial in Leinster. Dublin this year, Dublin next year and Dublin for the next 10 years"."
maybe there is no interest there in great britain but different here in ireland

Irrespective of who is playing I'll watch. Same as thousands more
Will we watch it to see the style and pace of a Dublin team who appear unbeatable and have impressed all year?
Will we watch it to see if the 'underdogs' Mayo team will topple Dublin's crown? Every one has a soft spot for the underdog and will Mayo be the team to stop the Dublin juggernaut?

Or like most we will watch it because it the finnal of a competition that our own teams tried their hardest to get to the final but just didn't have it on the day
Simple

We watch because we are supporters

Had surgery this morning, trying to recover enough to fly to Dublin for the day
Nothing beats Dublin for atmosphere on All Ireland day, irrespective of who's playing
All I need now is a ticket

Dublin are a fantastic team but that alone doesn't interest me when I tune in to a game. If they build a commanding lead its like watching paint dry with the posession game and zero intensity that follows. Obviously if you're a Dub this will be poetry in motion and all that but it hardly gets the pulse going if you are a neutral. Hopefully, I will be watching 70 minutes plus of this years final but it is more in hope than expectation unfortunately.
