Outside of Dublin and Mayo I don't think I have ever encountered as much apathy, indifference and disinterest at an All Ireland final as this one. I was talking to a few Meath fellas in Scotland at the weekend and they had the same attitude. Shrugged their shoulders and said "the game is dying on it's proverbial in Leinster. Dublin this year, Dublin next year and Dublin for the next 10 years".

If you had come across the opposite would you have started a post on it ??? I somehow doubt it with your track record. I watched every final regardless of who's been in them for the last 44 years , I watch the hurling which my county are never in , and I will watch the minor final on Sunday , you see your either a whinger or a fan , with the likes of you we will never win because if we win the Nostradamus of the North will be on with his customary we'll done to be followed with endlessl posts of what he really thinks , and if we lose you will probably slate us for being overrated and gym monkeys , you see sooner or later you become predictable which my boy you really are

To me the interest seems the same as usual for this all Ireland.

In 2010 when there was a fairly novel pairing of Cork and Down in the final I remember the media going on about there being a lack of rivalry resulting in a lack of interest in the final compared to most years.

You just can't suit everybody, some people like seeing rivalry's being renewed in finals and some like seeing novel pairing, for some this final will be a buildup to a special final for others it won't.

I'd say there is more riding on this final than on any final since the 2008 final between Tyrone and Kerry.Dublin win they may well end up being regarded as the greatest team of all time, if Mayo win they end their famine and get regarded in their own right as a great team.

Bet your ass they'll watch nevertheless, but I do understand the lack of enthusiasm, I can't sleep at night because of it.

You are a very negative guy. I have worried about you when reading your posts. You need to cheer up. It is not good for health to always see a glass half empty.

Take courage Ulsterman! Smile and the world will be smiling with you..but weep..and you weep alone..

Guten Abend Herr Bild. Thanks for your concerns, I am touched and glad that you have disproven the notion that our Saxon friends are cold and unemotional. The glass is half empty because 'de Dubs' have been raiding it for the past 15 years.

Or nothing so cringe worthy as someone who won't support his own county but hangs on the coat tails of others. (While they look fashionable to follow ).

As an Antrim man I am sure you can relate to the Meath man's provincial sentiments. The reality is that there is just one good team, not sure if Tyrone are that good, in each province and it's been like that for some time now. It's up to others to raise their game. What's not to like about seeing two teams who are coming to a final to play football, arguably the greatest team of all time against arguably the greatest team from the West of all time. They played out some classic games in recent years and the best players in the country will be on show. It's going to be epic.

Really not true. If anything the most competitive games Dublin seem to have in the championship is usually always against Mayo. I think everyone knows they are the only ones who could beat them. So for that alone people will watch in their hundreds of thousands. Plus Mayo are the colest thing to a GAA soap opera. The only dramaless game I've seen them play this year was the replay against Roscommon. . And even that was dramtic because it showed they still had it when everyone thought they were coming to an end.. Plus Dublin have the chance to do 3 in a row. Which is certainly a big deal.

I actually agree with the OP. I'm a mainly a football guy but this year I was much more interested in the build up to the hurling than the football.
It doesn't bother me who wins (although Id say id be happier with Dublin)

Of course I will watch it and so will everyone who posts/reads a GAA forum but it is true that outside the 2 competing counties there isn't the same level of interest this year.
when I find myself talking about soccer and rugby during the week leading to an All Ireland there is something missing.

Don't you say the same every year there isn't an Ulster side involved?
