He is becoming the Steve Mc Laren of the Gaa. One week on from declaring "Mayo are back " and "Mayo have refound their mojo" he now is extremely worried and reckons this team is finished... Belclare1 (Galway) - Posts: 1626 - 21/03/2018 14:12:37 2086627 Link 3 |

Sure Mayo do this every year, if i'm not mistaken the last time Mayo went well in the league and got to a final was 2012 when they weren't exactly an established power. I do wonder how much longer this team can go on. it has been a ferocious effort this last 7 seasons. theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 21/03/2018 15:32:45 2086653 Link 0 |

A lot pundits very worried about Mayo. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13705 - 21/03/2018 16:06:09 2086673 Link 1 |
Depends on how the injury situation goes, Mes Amis. If we're lacking Keegan and COC come May 13th, it will be very difficult to beat Galway, and it's a long way back from the qualifiers to the Croke Park from there. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 21/03/2018 16:13:24 2086677 Link 0 |
If this team lines out against Galway all fit; clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 21/03/2018 17:05:21 2086697 Link 1 |
You could be forgiven for thinking the same thing about them each year. There's too much wear and tear, too many emotional scars from narrow defeats, too many up and coming teams for them to navigate their way to the semi's or a final again. And yet every year they're back and just as close as they were before. I know they're an easy target for pundits and journalists who aren't good enough at what they do to come up with something original, but f**k me if you could bottle what Mayo have and give it to the rest of the country we'd have a much more competitive All Ireland championship. It's easy (and laughable) to call them bottlers or losers when they're the complete opposite. if_in_doubt (Kildare) - Posts: 3685 - 21/03/2018 17:32:06 2086707 Link 1 |
Ah Bernard is one of the more livelier pundits about, i enjoy him, he has a bit of passion and bravado in the voice that can enhance listening to a match on the radio, pundits aren't always paid to be right but paid to entertain us and keep us tuning in to see what they say next, it's part of the game. Mayo will be there or there about come the business end.say what you want about them, but there the only team thats ran us close over the last few years in championship.. GGdub (Dublin) - Posts: 260 - 21/03/2018 18:03:55 2086723 Link 0 |
100%. This Mayo team deserve a huge amount of admiration for how they've kept coming back, despite all of the blows they've received. Lesser teams would've folded. I have massive admiration for what they've achieved over the last 6 years. It remains to be seen how they perform this year, but if past championships are anything to go by, they won't be put away easily. Whoever loses on May 13th will have a very long road ahead, but I wouldn't be writing off Mayo if it's them. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2037 - 21/03/2018 18:05:40 2086724 Link 0 |
That's just it. People saying Mayo are gone are basing it on league games when Mayo often struggle in the league. We'll only know this Mayo team are gone when they fail to perform in Croke Park against a big team. Until that happens there's nothing to suggest they're not right in the mix. That's unfortunate when I heard it was a dislocated shoulder I thought it was similar injury to cian o Sullivan with a similar timeframe for return probably won't see Keegan until June.
