Thank you I thought it was going to be Derry my mistake, To be honest this result will shut up the bedgrudgers. Great to see the original management team bring Cavan to a Simi Final first I think since the seventies so brilliant. I knew they had the ability and the moral was sky hight. Sadly I did not make the Match as planned with Ollie Martin as I am here in the Mater and I will not be getting home too early by the looks of things."
Sean - our first All Ireland minor semi final since 1974. Well done to all involved.

Sean, I sincerely hope that the exploits of the Minor Footballers made things easier for you yesterday. The first All Ireland Minor Semi Final since 74. A Cavan team playing with a never say die attitude at the earlier stages of the second have did not go well for them but they kept going and turned a 10 - 6 deficit into a 3 point win in the last third of the game.

I would like to congrats the Cavan Minor Team and Management on reaching the All Ireland Minor Football Semi-Final. It was the hard work in the development of this team from U-14's - U16's, at Club and County Level. All Club & County Management structures have to be complemented. So somewhere in there, some Plan for the development of this squad was put in place. Was this Team Development Plan put in place 3- 5 years back? Who were the mentors that were involved over the years?

It would be a kick in the rear end to hear that we had just stumbled across this group of lads!!!!

For Cavan Football, this is a massive achievement in itself. We should not be satisfied to get into a semi-final . Lets go one step further. I know that we don't have the silverware home yet. We have the players, fitness levels and we need to get over and win the internal psychological battle ahead

To Safe guard these young guys going forward and in the interest of Cavan Football. Please don't let these young guys enter into the arena with this current Senior County Team Structures.

it would be another short era or missed opportunity pass us bye!!!!

I can tell you not all these lads came through the system this I can say without fear of contradiction so stop your waffling as for not allowing them into the arena with this current Senior County Team Structures well I think you should wait before you say anymore. The current senior manager took on what was all ready there so no time to make a mark, most people that have been going to matches over the last six years could name practically the starting fifteen and even name the substitutions . This is changing as we speak and we will have a team with Mattie and Lorcan Martin "Tyrone" stamp on it.
Let's take nothing away from what has been achieved by John Brady and his management and off course the players but I can tell you the credit stops there and goes no where else. John Brady has been U16 and U17 manager before he took over the minors so was very aware what was out there and also he attended most if not all of the minor games last year to pick the current team.
Congratulations to the minors and please god they go on now and beat Kerry next and then please god win the All Ireland.

P.S Have I not been reading back through the years that most of what is there in the senior panel came through the system. I laugh every time I read it.
Thinking back James Lovette Caroline Crowe Patricia Conroy were leading the development of a lot of the youth back then Patricia being the last.

A massive congrats to the cavan minor team and management . As i said before they have lit up the summer for the Cavan supporters. Their never say die attitude is remarkable. This has been instilled in them by John Brady and his management team . Every move they made was spot on . Very clever game plan . Nobody gave them a prayer of winning this game (apart from you sean ) . Hopefully we have a clean bill of health for the Kerry game and get back training soon . Delighted cavan fan .

While the praise for the attitude of the team and the result are well warranted, it should be pointed out that we were very poor for 40 minutes of this game. We made a massive amount of basic errors. We were cleaned out at midfield for large portions of the game. Our free taking was very poor. If we were playing a better team than Galway, the game would have been long over by the time we kicked into gear.

The great thing is that the team didn't drop the heads and because they kept trying they got the purple patch that won them the game. The defence was also resolute throughout.

If we want to beat Kerry, there'll be no room for a slow start.

I thought we had big chance because Galway would play open football too. I also correctly predicted Derry would beat us as we are tactically naive. I expect Kerry to beat us because they have far superior players. Fair play to the players doing so well in spite of being hampered by a poor game plan.

I am sure they will have learnt from Saturday jonsmith but remember no one gave Cavan a chance no one they were talking about 10+ hammering this did not happen and I said Cavan are a 60 minuet team not a 40 minuet team.

I did and felt as I do now they had the beating of them but circumstances changed thankfully for the better and long may it continue. A few elementary errors cost them that game as well don't you think. But let's not dwell on the past and think positive and united in one goal going forward.

It was more than a few elementary errors. They were second best throughout. Once Smith went off we were completely dominated physically in the middle. Credit to the team for hanging in for so long and a clever second goal brought us back into it. We had a chance or two after this to close the gap even more but took the wrong options. The Derry goal settled it but for my money Derry were the far superior team. But when you got heart and guts like these lads have you always give yourself a chance. No team likes an opposition that just refuses to go away.

Completely agree. Derry were a better side than us hands down. The lads never gave up and to still be in the game well into the second half was a credit to their resilience. Derry's physicality and scoring power and lines and angles of running were on a different level. Big money has been pumped into Derry football in recent years, it's no surprise to see them with a side as formidable as this one.

Any team that can turn a 13 point defeat around have to have quality. I have buried the past and I am thinking of their next match please one of two more. With minors they can be unbeatable today and get hammered tomorrow. It's all down to pressure who can handle it the best. Looks like a few on here are hoping they get beaten sad isn't it.

Derry were a better side ON THE DAY.
Funny how Derry only scraped past Sligo who were soundly beaten by Galway who were then beaten by Cavan.
As has been said already - minor football teams are very temperamental. Anything can happen on the day.

Were you in Clones Slasher? Were you in Carrick?
Derry are an excellent side and I find it hard to see how we would beat them were we to play them again. Although we made errors, we didn't play poorly on the day of the Ulster final; we were simply outclassed.
I don't believe we have the pace and power to match Derry and their forwards ability to win their own ball and score is superior to ours. I'm basing this opinion on seeing them play and seeing us play, football maths doesn't work.

This is no slight on our lads, they are in the last 4 on merit and they're a team that have made us proud to get out and support them. They're a credit. I'm giving an honest analysis of what I believe the team are capable of.

Don't know where you get your information from but it was 7 points. The posts here have been congratulatory in nature and wishing them well in the semi. Don't know who would be wishing them to fail- perhaps you might clarify?
Agreed, minor teams can be unpredictable and a team like Cavan who never give up can always upset the odds. Here's hoping.
