On a different note Kielt got a straight red today. It happened off the ball but during play. After the scuffle and before he got the line he took a shot. The shot went just wide. What is the protocol for that if it had went over considering he shouldnt have been on the pitch."
I was thinking the same when I saw Kielt shooting as you could clearly see the linesman waiting to tell the ref to send him off ... but then again the quality of officiating was shocking ... u summarise the last 10 mins well but 1 min before winner the DERRY goalie touches the ball on the ground well outside the small square then he lies on the ball and the ref says free out .. 1 min later derry score and it's div 3 for us ... give us that free on and we finish 5th in the league with 14metre free ... anyway small margins but it should never have come to it as we threw away 4 or 5 chances to put us outta sight ... I hope McGrath does nothing hasty in his future plans

Galway were average apart from Shane Walsh although should have won that game a lot more comfortably.

Kildare did have an early goal chance but Galway missed a lot more chances yesterday, O'Donnell managed to handpass the ball into the net when through on goal then handpass it wide when through again in the 2nd half. Brannigan had a shot blocked down in the first half when if he'd have laid it off to Flynn I think he'd have been threw on goal and then there was Sice's shot in the 2nd half. There was more instances of Galway bearing down on goal throughout the match but took the points instead of trying to work a goal.

Galway are capable of playing a lot better and obviously we'll see a totally different Kildare team next weekend, hopefully the game will have alot more intensity to it than yesterday.

Congratulations to Galway and Kildare, they were the 2 best teams and both deserved to go up, no complaints there. Disappointing from a Meath point of view but we slipped up on a few occasions and that's what cost us, ah well hopefully next.

Hard luck to Fermanagh and Derry aswell, getting relegated is never pleasant but what can you do only try and come back stronger next season.

Cheers Htaem. Yesterdays result was hard to take, the manner we lost it in was a boot to the family jewels. But over the course of the league I think we deserve to go down. With the exception of the Down, Clare and first half of the Galway game we have been very poor.

Anyway onwards and upwards, championship is just around the corner.

I think on reflection that was a very poor division 2. alot of average sides and none imo good enough to stay in div 1
