Anyone got any idea what's happening over the coming months here? I see planning permission was granted for a new stand last July but have seen exactly what that entails, if there's work being done elsewhere or what's happening. Is the fact that the lights haven't been put back up an indication that there's something coming soon or what's the reason? Anyone got any solid information? Surely it's high on the priority list at this stage" I know planning permission was granted in 2012 for a new stand on the same footprint but reduced height and to terrace both grass banks and provide new toilets but thought that had expired, has it been renewed?? I think the present board had more detailed plans which included transferring all media facilities to the existing terrace and improving it too. We are waiting for Leinster Council and Croke Park to confirm what type of investment they are going to put into Navan. If it is the lower end of the scale we will get a new stand and terracing behind the goals. If it is bells and whistles, the pitch will be realigned and we will get a 25/30,000 capacity fancy stadium. Nothing will happen until we get the go ahead, which is why the floodlights are lying on the ground around Pairc Tailteann, which is one of the most depressing sights every time you walk into the ground. Roger Cheers for that, I had also heard that about the pitch being turned 90' alright with the existing terrace being behind one goal but wasn't sure if that had been taken further. A decision was supposed to come at the end of the summer. A few other counties are lobbying for the big spend - Kildare and Dublin. Leinster Council and Croke Park have talked the talk, now it's time to get their finger out. I would agree there, PT is a bit of a no brainer for me really as it is one of the few existing grounds in Leinster with sufficient scope and size to be developed into a fit for purpose mid size stadium. Other nearby counties such as Kildare, Louth, Dublin, Westmeath, Longford do not have grounds that could be expanded into stadiums capable of holding 20-30'000 spectators, we do and we have a motorway running right alongside the town giving direct access to the M50. North and West Leinster does not have such a fit for purpose ground and all the decent stadia are in the south or middle of the province such as Wexford park, Nowlan Park, O'Connor Park and O'Moore Park. The needs of the Dubs are stand alone from the rest of Leinster, they need their own ground capable of holding about 25'000 given their support levels and they should have had it long before now but then again we should have seen improvements to PT long before now. Leinster Council did commit to spending anywhere between €6-20 million on Navan earlier in the year and I heard of feasibility studies that were to be presented to delegates during the summer but obviously there is a delay, hopefully something positive will be announced either at the last meeting or at convention.
