Spillane thinks a team that wins 3 all Ireland's in 5 years hasn't got any players good enough to play out field on his team of the century and then country folk wonder why were Paro about refs and you's not liking us my god.

Don't feel too hard done by, Danny Hughes could only find room for one Kerry man in his selection.

What planet is he on anyway?

In fairness to Danny Hughes he said they were his favourite players . He didn't say they were the best. No room for Paraic Joyce on Pat Spillane's team ?

Moynihan and Canavan played their best football in 90s. Padraig Joyce, Alan & Bernard Brogan, Karl Lacey and Stephen O'Neill unlucky not to make that team

In fairness to Spillane it's still a pretty good team.

No Connacht player in his team....I would have P.Joyce in there for sure.

At least Hughes admits regional bias in his comments, his is really an Ulster selection with a few (unwanted) guests, also clear that Spillane struggles and fails to see beyond his beloved Kerry. As regards the complete absence of outfield Dubs, the likes of the Brogan brothers, Cian O'Sullivan, Diarmuid Connolly, Whealo, would all have strong claims for inclusion but surely the absence of Paul Flynn (has there been a consistently better player over the last 5 seasons?) completely discredits both selections, if this man was playing for Kerry we would never hear the end of the "singing of his praises"!

Yet we are talking about his team!,, Love him or loath him you can't ignore Spillane .

To be fair to Pat it is not that biased. Kerry have been the best team in the Country over the past 15 years so surely they deserve to have the highest representation.

Kerry - 6
Tyrone - 4
Armagh - 2
Dublin - 1
Derry - 1
Donegal - 1

In fairness to Danny Hughes he said they were his favourite players . He didn't say they were the best.

he did say they were the best players he encountered as well as listening to other players opinions as well. Ulster biased is as kind as you could be on that team. Not even one O'Se? Paddy Bradley in their?? great talent yes, but he was in and out of set ups year in year out, falling out with team mates and management more times than enough. McCabe? Cavan have been nowhere in the last 15 years and as decent a player as he was its a bit like putting an Antrim man in because he always gave x player a tough game as opposed to giving it to someone who was on a higher level consistently.

You could pick 5 different teams and people would still argue. For Spillane it's actually not a bad choice. While Dublin are a fine side they are really operating in a poor enough football period. Kerry are not the force they were while Tyrone and Armagh are in rebuilding mode. Meath, Kildare, Laois are very poor imitations of once very decent footballing counties while Mayo and Cork aren't mentally strong enough at the top level so you have a strong argument that Dublin have it very easy on and off the pitch. You consequently have to take that into account when discussing these best teams.

P Joyce should be in there in fairness, was at his peak, 2000 to 2003

Bernard Brogan should be in that team ahead of Peter Canavan. If it is based on the years from 2000-2015 Bernard Brogan has been far better. Canavan would be ahead of him if it was based on his career but not this millennium. 10 Leinster titles 4 All Stars 1 POTY 3 All Irelands. 3 NFL and Motm in 2013 final

Not sure I'd have Joyce in there although close between McDonnell and himself, was a great player no doubt but for me the omission would be Donnellan. Was a phenomenal forward and he would put the fear of god in any team he was facing. Would have him there for Dooher or Murphy. Dooher, Galvin and Flynn are all very similar players and their role is to do the donkey work for the other superstars so as effective as they were/are in the systems which were employed I wouldn't class them in the best bracket, just my opinion but these things are there to stimulate discussion.

P.Joyce and B.Brogan should be on the team.

Joyce every bit as good as canavan for me. For some reason he never gets much credit.
Flynn ahead of dooher and Higgins in for Lockhart for my team.
Plus, probably isn't fair the way he makes room for murphy by moving him to chf when he is a ff, and then making room for Declan o'sullivan at wing forward, when he was a chf. If that is acceptable, then surely you can make room for Joyce or McDonald also?

Ulsterman

Dublin were no great shakes back when Tyrone and Kerry were hammering them

So just using your own logic, didn't both Kerry and Tyrone prosper when Dublin had their worst sporting period in Dublin GAA history

Mayo and Donegal were also poor versions of the now excellent sides that you see today

Your rather one sided look at form doesn't add up, IMO your only aim of coming to your conclusion is to try and discredit this Dublin team, who could have competed against, and easily beaten either of the great Tyrone / Kerry sides of the 00's... sure even the dodgy Dublin team of the time drew with Tyrone, and were a kick of a ball away from Kerry - are you telling me the team of today couldn't have done better?

To suggest otherwise is daft...

Murphy is a player that can do great things but he goes out of games for so many long periods you forget he's playing plus he's only on the seen since 09 AlanBrogan has been brilliant since 02 and don't tell me Dooher is a better half forward than Alan ,Connolly or Flynn no way is he, if any other county besides Dublin won 3 All Ireland's do you really believe Spillane wouldn't have one outfield player from that team, it's an insult to Dublin football these will go down as our greatest ever team and players and were the second best county there's ever been yet pat doesn't think we should have one outfield player on his team #joke
