As an outsider I am curious to discover who is the Offaly man. Watching gaa on tv over the past few years and attending games made me wonder who he is. Any game in o'moore park, o Connor park, Nolan park, Croke park(hill16), wexford, navan, longford, mullingar he is always there. A small, stout, old mad with grey hair, a relatively new Offaly Jersey and always has a Lidl plastic bag in hand, from a distance he looks like Pat Shortt! If people looked closely behind the goals he'd become famous like John 3:7 or the cork man with the Indian hat. Who is this man? SweetStrike (Louth) - Posts: 11 - 04/06/2014 17:55:47 1598170 Link 0 |
His name is Mick Mc Donagh from Tullamore. He is Offaly's greatest supporter, despite not having a a car, he relies on public transport, lifts, or whatever, to attend games all over Ireland, complete with Dunnes Stores bag. Mick attends all games, regardless of who is playing, and positions himself where he can be seen in telly. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1706 - 06/06/2014 13:21:55 1599032 Link 0 |

Its odd seeing the jersey at every big match that Offaly are not involved in.!! Funny sense of humour somewhere. Brinsley Swartz (Mayo) - Posts: 2225 - 24/09/2014 18:12:58 1656662 Link 0 |

Will he be wearing the new jersey this season? Will check him out at the matches versus Longford and Westmeath[minors] Hope to see some green shoots of a football recovery. Wasnt that impressed with seniors against Antrim. Brinsley Swartz (Mayo) - Posts: 2225 - 21/04/2015 10:10:15 1715903 Link 0 |
How about the league final v Longford? Mick Mc D was in Kilkenny for the NHL semi finals last week. His travels are starting for 2015,watch out for him on a telly near you. Wonder if he could do a travel show with a GAAtheme, for RTE or some other TV station.? thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1706 - 27/04/2015 12:23:21 1717906 Link 0 |
