Ger Farragher of Galway hurlers spring to mind did get something like 2-8 or 2-9 in an all Ireland semifinal against kilkenny, Des Mythen of my own county but he did have a very good club career

Peter Donnelly was very good with Tyrone. He didn't really nail down a starting place at Senior.

Nicky O' Connell of Clare was a serious Hurler, he faded off the senior scene fairly quick. Bernard Gaffney was another Clare player who seemed to fade away too.

Eoin Foley, Patrickswell was some hurler. Didn't have a great run of it at inter-county senior, unfortunately.

Diarmuid Fitzgerald (Roscrea) looked a superstar in the making, but disappeared after 2005

A number of the 2000-02 Limerick u21 team never made a big impact at senior level. David Stapleton in 2000 was electric in a couple of games but never made it, Pat Kirby & Eoin Foley also huge prospects who never did much at senior.
More recently for Clare, David O'Halloran was one I expected to make an impact but never did after his run in with Davy Fitz.

I played college's hurling with Diarmuid Fitzgerald, he was a fantastic player. I think he had a bad time with injuries after that.

For Louth I would say David Reid from the Mattock Rangers in Collon and Hugh McGinn from the Newtown Blues in Drogheda.

yeah Mythen had a couple of seansons and was a good hurler..Jack Guiney was awesome...I remember going to school in latter half of 1980s playing Vocational Schools against Thomastown and Johnstown, a Brendan Ryan was playing for one of them schools, he went onto hurl minor with Kilkenny, not sure of U21 but just went then off the scene..an awesome hurler he was..great score getter...

Bobby Duggan, brother of Peter I think for Clare was amazing u21 player too...dont think he has featured too much with Seniors...

Played senior but think injuries and he couldn't get back to the player he was counted against him.

David Murtagh and Barry Reagan were names to watch from that team but never made it at senior.

I'd say from the 08 team Ciaran Lenehan and Mark Battersby were two earmarked but didn't progress.

Brian power from the 2012 team is another I thought would be a certainty to be donning a senior jersey but I think he's abroad these days

I'd say Alan Nestor is another name - injuries and a battle with testicular cancer ruled out a senior inter county career.

Would it be fair to include Shane O'Rourke on this list as injuries and growing pains effectively ruined a senior inter county career for him. Had all the ability in the world and showed glimpses when he did play inter county but wasn't able to keep injury free.

Yeah Wade never really delivered on all his underage and club form was unstoppable at time's early in his career never got going at senior level! Daly Had knee and hip issues I think I've no doubt he would of made a good number of senior appearances otherwise had a great engine and was very good driving forward with the ball was captain the u21 team that won the all Ireland in 2011! Galway unfortunately have had. Lot of players who fit into this category down through the years.
