In fairness this link is spot on. (apologies to Offside__rule if my earlier reply was a tad sarcastic) I spoke to my referee buddy last night and it appears that they referees have been issued with a clarification which aligns with the link. This, however, is different from what they were told at the Seminar before Christmas.
In summary for the advanced mark a player may not be tackled for 4 steps (or the time it would take for 4 steps) the exception to this is that if the attacking player is in the large Square. I am assuming that this means if a player receives the ball 1 yard outside the large square he can be tackled when he goes into it (that you don't have to give him the full four steps). It is worth noting that a defender intercepting a kick can avail of the mark also!!.. Lots of fun to be had with this. I pity the poor club referee!!

I thought this rule was going to be rubbish. Having seen it in operation, I can see I was right.

My greatest objection is that it slows the game down.

As if the advantage rule whereby a player can miss an effort at a point but get a second bite at the cherry wasn't bad enough, the GAA had to go and make scoring points even more spoonfed

The link - to the Cuala Club's website - does appear to be spot on. But, why is this info - re the large rectangle - not on Gaa.ie?
Or, am I missing it?

Everybody massively confused on rule changes & now talks of changes again at Congress, it's a mess. Club games are going to be a farce as club referees don't seem to have a clue. No clarity from Croke Park either.
