Meath have lost recent games by very little, have had no rub of the green from refs, have scored lots of goals and can open any team. After such a massive win in Tuam the last day maybe Galway could be caught on the hop. 50/50 game in my eyes

Definitely fancy Galway with a few to spare here, although I predicted a Kerry landslide last week and although they haven't won, Meath are running some of the big dogs very close and there could well be an upset coming up for them.

I fancy Monaghan, Dublin and Kerry in the other games. Hoping that Monaghan can keep pushing on this year, ive always enjoyed watching them and theyre playing some good football so far. On their day I fancy Monaghan as a team that can beat anybody this year. Having McManus is always a big factor if he has his shooting boots on ( which is normally the case.) Conor McCarthy is playing out of his skin at the moment too which is good to see and maybe just what Monaghan needed, they have been a top team on their day now for a few years but I think they have always missed a wee bit of firepower up top with McManus, if McCarthy can keep up and fit the bill come championship I think they could be contenders.

Hard to see where Tyrone are going to get the points to stay up. Dublin in Omagh and Donegal in Ballybofey. Will likely need other results to go our way.

Right now I'd take a shootout with Mayo last day to see who stays up. That would be interesting.

Monaghan look safe with Meath last day out.

They give out medals for winning All Irelands.
Last time I checked there are no awards for getting back up and keeping at it!
Isn't that what every team does every year?
Again this year, Dublin and Mayo will do exactly what everyone expects them to do.
Keep up the good work!!!!!"
Winning an all Ireland is what we all crave as GAA fans...in mayo it's an obsession BUT the GAA should
And is about much more than winning an all Ireland...it's about community, friends, taking part and enjoyment...if you can't see that then you have no idea what the GAA stands for my friend.

I would always measure a players status in the game by the impact he had on the game as a whole, rather than how many all Ireland medals he has.

I agree. Bar Dublin no team has been winning consecutive games impressively for a number of years now so difficult to perform to your capabilities on a regular basis. On paper we have a better squad than Meath but that is paper. Still though our options might be enough to carry the day. Hopefully anyhow as we have two big home games on March 15th and 22nd and a win in Navan would put us in a great position.

Galway need to get something in Navan as 6 points is not safe, especially with Mayo and Dublin to come. Galway win.
Donegal, Mayo and Tyrone to win also. Who will join Meath in div. 2? Fascinating stuff.

I would say that 6 points for Galway at this stage probably is safe as you have head to head wins over Donegal and Tyrone and have a massive plus figure in scoring difference.

On saying that I fully expect you to beat Meath at the weekend.

As the league progresses teams begin to even out,on current form I would expect galway to beat meath but home advantage is still a big plus it could well be a tight game.while as a galway man I am enjoying the football being played I think like Monaghan we have put in an "extra bit of work" I think the visit of mayo and Dublin will test our inexperienced managers tactical nous.i sincerely hope p.joyce and team are still receiving positive plaudits after them two games.

James Horan tactical nous is still very questionable..

Mayo v Kerry - Kerry just about
Tyrone v Dublin. - Dublin by 4-6
Donegal v Monaghan. Draw
Meath v Galway. - You'd have to fancy Galway after last weekends demolition of Tyrone. Am not overly optimistic of a good performance from Meath as we've been brutal on the last 2 home games. Hope springs eternal however, so I'm hoping for a close competitive game. If and it's a big if, Meath can get ahead midway through the 2nd half, it could get very interesting.

Can't post a logical answer to why I think Meath will win. But I just do.

Yeah but to be fair no matter what game it is and no matter what logic suggests you always think Meath will win. Meath could literally be putting out under 10s against a full strength Dublin and you'd still be saying that you think Meath would win. So don't be worrying that you have no logical answer

I must say I got a great laugh off that post. Although I don't particularly like being tarred with that brush, you have to
admit the Meath posters here are legendary. Like the drunken, mild mannered uncle at his nephew's communion, you just don't know what's coming and what lunacy is going to unfold. You cant help but love that uncle.

Meath have had a poor league, no wins. Thats the bottom line. However there are positives; particularly considering the current injury crisis, the squad is as thin as ice. The performances have gradually been improving. I could go into asides about how they "could have" beaten Mayo and Kerry etc, but its all too frequent a talking point I'm seeing from other posters. Ultimately we aren't ready to win against the top sides as of right now and are suffering the same first-year yo-yo effect from Div.2 - Div.1 and back again as other teams have in recent years. They may well improve in the coming few years and eventually find success against top sides or more likely find themselves languishing in the relative obscurity of mid table Division 2. They're a fringe team, on a good day they're well able to compete with the best sides, but as are likely to fall on the sword against hungry and robust Division 3 sides. That's where Meath is at. The grand Royal revival is still in definite postponement, and the fabled return of the Meath-Dublin rivalry is still very definitely left to the imagination for the near future at earliest, if ever to be seen again.
