Before Dublin posters lose their mind I'd pick James McCarthy in midfield

Back 6 probably the most room for people to fall out over. Picked on instinct, medal hauls, and passing the eye test.

Keegan and McCarthy desperately unlucky to miss out for me.

Jack.

Jimmy Mc in midfield to accommodate Keegan, trully wonderful player.

Just a ridiculous amount medals really and longevity over the decade,

Colm Boyle and Keith Higgins massively unlucky to miss out.

The Donegal & Tyrone lads are worth a shout as quality players, but for longevity over the decade its hard to look beyond that.

A lot of good defenders but with today's defensive systems its hard to say is it the players that are good or is it because they've so many back defending its not like years ago where players went one on one.

That's true. Lacey was winning All Stars back before blanket defenses as a tight marking corner back. Then he evolved into a marauding centre half back in the Jimmy McGuinness days. So for me, his inclusion is a no brainer.

If we were talking 2005-2015 then yes Lacey is a no brainer but for this decade after wining and All Star in 2011 and FOTY in 2012 he didn't feature again in the nominations list before retiring in 2017. A savage footballer but for this 10 year period there are more worthy inclusions in the back 6.

Well obviously I'll have a certain bias but for me, Karl was that good in the period you mention, that he deserves his place on team of the decade. Others have come to that conclusion as well. But look, it's an opinion and it's why we participate on these pages. Mick Fitzsimons is a super player these past few years, but in the earlier part of the decade was he at that outstanding level? I don't think so. So you could flip your argument around re: Lacey.
