Kerry v Mayo 1996. Mayo won by 6 and Horan scored from the 40 - lobbed him. Great day... it would take another 21 years before we would beat them again.... I didn't appreciate it at the time. I sat in the Cusack stand which was very new at the time. The old Hogan and Canal end were still there.

The 2003 AI Hurling Semi Final Wexford v Cork. I absolutely hounded my parents to bring me, in the end the mother relented and brought me we were sitting in the Canal end. Rory McCarthy last minute goal to draw it up. Dragged my old fella to his first game and the mother her second in Croker for Tipp vs Wexford in the Semi Final this year.

Limerick vs Antrim all ireland semi-final 1994 i remember there was a small war outside the stadium with supporters and stewards on the turnstiles because children weren't let in without tickets. The game itself i remember gary Kirby nearly getting decapitated with a clumsy pull and having stormer after it.

Longford vs Dublin league game in 84/85. Longford won and had a fine team that would have thrived under the qualifier system.

1989 Hurling League Final, Galway V Tipp. Watched from the old Nally Stand. Don't remember much. Brought a camera and have a photo of Conor Hayes accepting the cup. I was probably the only one with a camera, how times have changed.

I've been there many times since and I never get tired of walking into the Stadium and just thinking wow!

1971 All Ireland final. Galway V Offaly. Pouring rain, the Iron man Paddy McCormack of Rhode was literally running amok. As a kid I said to my dad who brought me- why is that man pushing and punching other players all the time?
I wonder what modern pundits eg Spillane, Brolly, O Rourke would have made of the bould Paddy McCormack and the style of football he played.

I think you will find O Rourke and Spilanne played with and against many like Paddy.

Annoyingly can't remember. We were brought up with our u-8's. May have been a league game early 90's. I think Dublin and Meath.

There was one man and his dog at it.

Leinster Hurling Final 1978 - Wexford v Kilkenny. Was six years old at the time.

Kilkenny won, and as I watched the presentation afterwards, I asked my father 'when will Wexford get the cup?'. His answer to me was just 'sometime soon'.

In fairness, Wexford had been Leinster champions in 1976 and '77, and nobody could have foreseen what was to come. But bottom line is that I ended up having to wait 18 long feckin' years before Wexford finally did win the damn thing again.

So the oul' hoor lied to a six-year-old child. Terrible. :)
