Maurice fitz sideline is the most aesthetically beautiful score you'll see, it was like a perfect iron shot in golf.

From a relatively young Kildare perspective,
These are the scores that are etched into my memory for better or for worse (lots of heartache involved with being a lily).

No particular order

1. James Kavanagh goal vs Meath 2010 AIQF
2. Bernard Brogan free, Leinster semi 2011
3. Kevin Cassidy extra time point, 2011AIQF
4. Benny Coulter goal, 2010 AISF
5. Jimmy Hyland final point v Mayo, 2018 AIU20F

Hard to omit Johnny Doyle for all his value, these are just the five most memorable scores in Kildare games for me. Also have seen many a cracking score from Dan Flynn, but not at these vital times.

no particular order although maurices was special.......
Maurice v Dublin 2001
Ciaran Mc Donald v Dublin 2006
Dooher v Kerry 2008
Cluxton v Dublin 2011
Kevin Cassidy v Kildare 2011

special mention:
Murphy 2012
Tom Brewster v Armagh 2004
Mc Glynn goal Ulster final 2012 (this goal to me heralded the start of the offensive defender)
From a cavan point of view Jasons goal in the 1997 ulster final was special
Extra special mention goes to Benny coulter for his point against kildare in the AI semi final in 2010. it should be iconic. one of the best points and passages of play I've ever seen.

Canavan coming back on against Kerry i the 05 final and kicking that point from an acute angle was a very iconic score as well. One of the greats of the game, in the biggest match rubber stamping his place among the GAA legends, A fantastic score!

And the greatest of them all, Ciaran Carey's point. Don't even need to mention the year or opposition, as the world and its mother knows that one!

Well judged at number 1. Yes, I remember that massive score in 1996, against your rivals.

Maurice Fitzgerald's sideline kick, which epitomised his talent & skill. Done under considerable pressure & intimidation as well, definitely an iconic score.

2. Michael Donnellan's solo run point V Kildare 1998
3. Maurice Fitz sideline point v Dublin 2001
4. Brian Dooher point v Kerry 2008
5. Seamus Darby goal v Kerry 1982

All from play except Maurice Fitz's effort, i had to include it, 1 of the most stylish men i've ever seen kick a football.

They didn't specify that it was GAA only

For Monaghan:
Paul Finlay's Hail Mary v Meath in NFL Div 2 Final in 2005.
His father's goal v Donegal in 1979 Ulster Final.
Tommy Freeman's icing on the cake point v Donegal in 2013.
Ray McCarron's dummy solo goal v Cavan in 1993. It's on YouTube if you haven't seen it.
Conor (or Kieran if you're from RTE) McManus' point v Tyrone in Omagh in 2018. The fist pump was class!

Maurice was a lovely kicker of the ball, I was in tipp that day and behind the goals that he kicked the pint into, I remember it looked at first like it was going to go wide at the far post then it kind hung in the air and started to curl and dropped over the black spot.

There is no hope i can take 5 from antrim that will be worth talking about on an open thread

Not even Olcan 'Cloot' McFetridges second against Offaly in the '89 semi? While on his knees? Made Irish news top 5 hurling goals and 12th in TG4s top 100.

Replying To Lockjaw:  "With Frank McGlynn retiring, it reminded me of a brilliant point he scored against Cork in the 2012 AI semi final. It was one of many great scores over the year, but I remember being at that game and thinking, Holy Jesus we are actually gonna win this All Ireland, no team will stop us.

So an iconic Donegal score for sure.

What would your 5 favorite iconic scores be from your team? I'm not simply talking about a great score in a match. I'm talking about great scores at clutch moments in big matches.

In no particular order:

Donegal:
1. Kevin Cassidy's winning point vs Kildare in 2011 AI QF
2. Declan Bonner's point at fist pump 1992 AI Final
3. Frank McGlynn's point vs Cork
4. Michael Murphy's goal vs Mayo 2012 AI Final
5. Colm McFadden's goal vs Dublin 2014 AI semi Final"
Couldn't have picked a better 5, I think Cassidys point against Kildare in 2011 was the day I started believing we were going to win Sam again, awful pity he wasn't there in the All Ireland year that followed.

I just stick to the football mate, dont follow hurling as much as i used to a few years ago. Probably more likely to get 5 great scores from Antrim in Hurling rather thsn football though

Brian Murphy's goal v Meath in the 1998 Leinster Final. As a Kildareman nothing else comes close.

Outside of Kildare, Brian Dooher's point with the outside of his boot from the right wing & in hurling, DJ's point when play basically stopped all around him are standouts for me.
