Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "But my understanding is that the money mismanagement happened under the watch of the previous chairman and that those who have most questions to answer are no longer on the county board. The present chairman is the lightning rod for criticism now but if I'm not mistaken he is just 2 years in the job and was unanimously re-elected last year by club delegates at the county convention even after the first rumblings of this story were aired. Can only wonder why if he was unanimously re-elected he is now been portrayed as being at the root of the problem?"
Even if the people who caused this mess are gone they should be named. The problem goes back to at least 4 years ago

Replying To yew_tree:  "Bit unfair on Pat McDonagh there who is a great Galway and GAA man, although I can see a ban coming on fast food sponsorship just like ciggrates and alcohol being rolled out eventually."
as it should be. It makes me cringe every time I see better sponsors for the numerous YouTube/podcast analysis shows that have become quite numerous. Feel for Galway GAA fans & participants who just want to hurl, & hopefully bring some silverware home. Embezzlement and or complete incompetence shouldn't diminish your pride. Stealing, in any way from any amateur sporting organization is despicable & as haa been said, good accounting & oversight of those put in those positions in needed. As are criminal background checks, if not already. So, true fans, hold your head high, support club & county in the most efficient way you see fit. Get involved or just bring positive 'whatever' you chose. Their VERY talented, ...and successful(youth & camogie & club to come) hurlers, Footballers & Camogie players give so much & don't deserve to be dragged through the mud. nor supporters. Galway has honest people who love and support their County. Support them & MAKE SURE THE GOOD DON'T GET TOSSED UNDER THE BUS. Otherwise, good luck to Galway.

Replying To moc.dna:  "Massive cover ups, this goes all the way to the top of the Association. People need to write to the various State bodies calling for an independent investigation similar to what's going on in the FAI. A very similar scenario is happening in Galway GAA as happened in the FAI."
What about the Irfu. They get millions upon millions from the state, and yet the much vaunted Irish rugby team flopped in the recent World cup. Losing to one of the weaker teams and getting thrashed by the All Blacks. Any audit of the amount of Irish taxpayers money that went into them. In fairness to FAI, Irish football team has fighting chance of making Euros next year. Well done to them. Eireann abú
