" Official Match Day Programmes"

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It's said that the price of an official match day programme for last weeks All Ireland football final was 7 euros that's a bit steep I think, just wondering with the reduction in match day tickets for the replay encourage a pro rata reduction in match day programmes.

I was at the match and I have a programme home with me. 122 pages, nice articles and an excellent memento of the day. 7 euros is not dear for what we got. I think it was value for money. If the programme the next day is the same size and content it will be value for money too

Ah come on, for Jaysus sake , is this some sort of a f*c*in joke ?
A thread about program pricing.
What next ?
A thread about the color of the seats.

Well they definitely need to do something with the seats. The colours are way too bland. Imagine if they were to change the colours of the tiers in each stand. Personally I think instead of two tone blue as they have been since the mid 90s a combination of red, yellow and green would do wonders for the look of the stadium.

I would agree here, you can pay a fiver for porgramme half the size of the programme that was given last week, it was an excellent programme well produced that wouldnt melt in the rain and very big with reflection analysis and articles etc.

I bought more then one to be honest.

If it was in a book shop it would be 20 euro.

The catering at Croke Park sucks. Beer and junk food. Exactly what none of the athletes playing in the match would touch with a barge pole. GAA should be leading the way on healthy eating instead of the over-priced crap it currently sells.

Very few all Ireland football finals serve up a classic encounter and a nail biting finish as last Sundays final did, draw included, so congrats to Dublin and Kerry for all of that, and no programme irrespective of the price could do justice to the game, that said, - - -
I go to a lot of games when the opportunity arises so I collect a lot of programmes along with the programmes that are given to me, the regular programme which is glossed, coloured, very well produced, very informative with appropriate flash backs user friendly etc, etc, I'm looking at one here from the Kildare / Mayo game in St. Conleths (Newbridge or nowhere) 30/06/2018 which costs 3 euros, I also have with me here a programme from the Kildare / Galway game in St. Conleths Newbridge 22/07/2018 which cost 5 euros one week later that's an increase of 66%, no difference at all with the content except the pages are a little bigger but less of them.
With huge respect to Dublin / Kerry the all Ireland programme of 2019 (which I have not seen) cannot be very much different to the one's I am looking at except in size, appearance and price, on the matter of price 7 euros is an increase of 133% based on the 3 euro standard programme.
From what I am led to believe the programme's cost nothing to the gaa to produce, the costs are covered by the all inclusive advert's, so it's all profit going on that.
Because the Dub's were going for the drive for 5 and Kerry their arch rivals were going to try and stop them, the selling agents knew that all Dublin gaels would want a historic programme, similarly, should Kerry stop them then all of Kerry gaels would want the same historic programme along with others like myself who collect them, hence the increase. The thing is tough, before a ball was kicked, the bookies were pricing the Dub's at 1/5 and Kerry at 5/2 ish, if they were basing the increase on the latter it just doesn't make sense, economic or otherwise.
The thing is, will they be brave enough to revert back to the old programme price for the replay next week.

"Food for thought." - at no extra cost.

Haven't ate in Croke park since the incident at canal end many years ago. (Look it up) also have a issue with selling alcohol, don't think it's a good idea at all. Never was in favor of it. But by jasus the hotdogs behind the stand in navan are only mighty. Bit pricey at 5 a pop but delicious.

Catering companies run the bars and food units.
They do what will sell and can be produced as fast as possible
What do you want GAA to change about their deal with whoever runs the food/bar units in Croke Park?
They also serve what customers want!

in wexford you sometimes get charged a euro for an a4 page with 2 teams.....
on a side note,i hate people who are tight and wont buy their own programme and keep asking for a lend of mine at a match.

Can't bring your own beer in though. I had a slab of Heino taken off me on way in last match I went to. Scandalous.

This is a great idea !

Just change the seats for every match. If there's a double header, just shift everyone out of the stand into the bars while the seats are changed between games.

And why is the field green and white ? Surely it could be painted in the teams' colours too. Obviously, they'd need reversing at half time......
