Won an All-Ireland as manager of Clarinbridge in 2011 against a strong KK club, no mean feat.

Having promise is certainly a step up from having no promise, where 26 or more counties find themselves most of the time.

Great manager and seems like a great guy off the field too. He built a fabulous Galway team and ultimately ended the drought for Liam McCarthy in the West. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 21/08/2019 16:14:43 2228283 Link 0 |

Micheál did the business in a quiet and unassuming manner. Put the pride back into Galway hurling without any fuss or mind games. Go n-éirí leat, a Mhichíl, a dhuine chóir! baire (Galway) - Posts: 1785 - 21/08/2019 16:58:48 2228301 Link 1 |

True, plus rumor has it that Lynsky isn't interested. Sad that it's such a hard to fill job. It shouldn't be like this.

I think the defeat to Dublin and Dublin's subsequent loss to Laois spelled the end for him.. However he had his day in the sun and he'll not forget those glorious moments he had with his father when they returned to Galway.. Good health and happiness in the future Michael.. That photo of him and his Dad was one of the great photos of the years. If one picture summed up what it meant for Galway it was that one.

Michael is a reflection of the Galway supporter in general. Modest and humble in victory and gracious in defeat. I had the pleasure of sitting between a Galway dad with his two kids on one side and more Galway supporters on the other side in 2017. Other than winning ourselves I could not be more pleased to see the elation in them at the final whistle. The struggle to get to the top makes people like this.
